I don't much care for getting it right or not, I'm just glad we've got the boy on board. As I said at the time, the information was passed onto me from someone who knew a lot more about it than myself. I heard from another source about the fee being agreed verbally, which it was, and then retracted. Initially it was the case that Watford wanted to let their fans down gently by letting out sound-bites about rejecting bids, rather than be seen to accept the first offer on the table, but then unbeknown to any of us, the club entered takeover talks and suddenly, along with Southampton showing their interest, they wanted more money. We walked away, until this all resurfaced again once Zola was brought in and made the decision to let the player leave if he wanted to move on. Right or wrong, I'm really not fussed. I'm just glad we've brought in a bright young talent who will improve while he's here and hopefully take us to another level.

RFCSPACE
elman Wikipedia now list his club as Reading.

:!:

Not any more.

I also had to fix the squad list on the Reading F.C. page - some numpty had assigned numbers to Pog and Guthrie.

JS28ZoD Announcement of this one is imminent.

I expect they'll wait until tomorrow now.

Seriously pleased with this signing if it has come off. We've had a good summer.

I'm hoping they'll wait until next week to announce a double signing of Mapps and Danny Simpson! Here's to hoping

Out of all the players we've been linked with, this would make me the happiest if he signs.

My Watford supporting mate raves about him, and although we don't get to see much Chump football across the pond, Pardew and Martinez certainly rate him and they generally have a good eye for a player.

This may explain the reason the initial agreed fee was retracted, and later upped:

http://www.gloryhorns.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 83#p725783

"As I alluded too in a thread a week ago. We never rejected 2mill a month back. The deal was rejected on grounds other than the fee. Mapps had spoken to Reading. Baz had agreed the deal and at the last minute Graham Taylor pulled the plug over Baz's head, one of his last moves and probably most satisfying as chairman. One can only guess at request of the bond holders to stop Baz asset stripping ahead of the sale of the club. Since everyone is currently obsessed with source. I was told on the phone a couple of week ago by one Readings coaches."

And Jonny is as ITK as the best of them.
I even think he was at the game today and probably got the chance to speak to people at the club .....
Not saying that is better than getting a text from a mate or seeing it on Twatter or Wikipedia though.
