Reading4eva We could loan him out to Sheffield Wednesday again next season? They will struggle I feel, and it will be a test of his attributes how he deals with it

Only if he and they are happy with a loan. If I was them I'd want a permanent player, not to spend years developing a player for someone else without any of the benefits of getting a big transfer fee out of it.

What excactly would we get out of another year's loan when he's out of contract at the end of it?

Assuming we offer him a new contract we would be owed a fee by the club he signs for? which if he sets the championship alight with swfc may be higher than the 700k or whatever we could get for him now

More than £700k for an out of contract player who barely played for us? The other club would LOL in our faces and see us at the tribunal.

Whether we would like him to stay or not the ball is in Antonio's court.

If he wants to go we either have to sell or wait and accept the tribunal fee at the end of the season - as has just been said (and that will be lower than 700K) so all we can do is accept whatever he decides.

I would like him to sign and extension and go out on loan, but ultimately it is up to the player.

I evidently dont understand how the tribunal system works then, so lets say he scored 20 goals next season for Sheffield weds on a season long loan. we offer him an new improved contract, he rejects us and signs for Wednesday. we still get less than 700k?

Typically tribunal fees have been a max of 400K or so in the past - but impossible to know what would happen in your scenario for sure.

Tribunal fees are supposedly compensation for the costs of developing the player. Seeing as he has been a late joiner (2008) and would have spent the vast majority of the period with Reading actually out on loan at other clubs, it'd be hard for us to make a case for a large compensation fee.

Bur if anyone could, Hammond could.....

I was under the impression that Antonio's future was discussed at the recent Fans Forum.

But obviously, I can't repeat what I was told by someone who was there............

Well he is the manager, if he wants regular football I'm sure he'd find it easy enough to select himself.

Milan Madaric has flown out to Portugal to help push the Antonio transfer through. Dave Jones has told local media the deal is moving forward.

He must have flown out after the Basingstoke game then because he was there watching.

Shaka's Shorts, the STAR-si have entered the building, apparently you are to be arrested for 'Crimes against the STAR-te.' Quick, I will delay them while you climb out the window!!!

Anyone happen to know how many senior members of STAR are moonlighting with the LOCOG Commercial Dept?

I would sell him for a small fee, but whack in a massive sell-on clause.
