Maybe that is true. But surely who they are playing against is a key part of working out/voicing an opinion on who has/hasn't done well in a game etc...

I still love me football me.

The Rouge Not criticising at all but it always amazes me that people don't watch/notice the opposition players when watching a game of football.

Not a regular occurrence for me I must say. Just must have tried to block out as much as possible about the Watford home game last year but I have no excuses for the return fixture.

I initially got confused between him and Lloyd Doyley

Every fan is mainly concerned with how their players are playing, every now and again an opposition player will steal the show with a fantastic performance which sticks in the memory, however unless this happens it's easy for opposition player performances to go unnoticed.

This typically means that a player is solid but not spectacular, which pretty much sums up my thoughts of Marriapa, but I'm looking forward to watching him with more interest going forward.

Watford Fans on their forum As I alluded too in a thread a week ago. We never rejected 2mill a month back. The deal was rejected on grounds other than the fee. Mapps had spoken to Reading. Baz had agreed the deal and at the last minute Graham Taylor pulled the plug over Baz's head, one of his last moves and probably most satisfying as chairman. One can only guess at request of the bond holders to stop Baz asset stripping ahead of the sale of the club. Since everyone is currently obsessed with source. I was told on the phone a couple of week ago by one Readings coaches.

Watford Fans on their forum Marriappa is very comfortable on the ball, suits martinez and zola. Be nice to test the waters with a decent contract offer. Could be the first and most important signing and send a message to supporters.

Watford Fans on their forum I personally dont think he's good enough for the Premier league, hes very much improved but I still think he's too weak to be a decent central defender. If a good offer came in, more than 2 mill, I'd take it...

Watford Fans on their forum If it's true he derserves his chance.. Good honest player.

Watford Fans on their forum 7 Years of service is amazing really in the modern game, obviously he was never really identified by the bigger clubs when he was younger so he's always been focused on playing for us.

Deserves his move, and It will be interesting to see how he copes

Watford Fans on their forum he's ann outstanding defender with pace, awareness and good positional sense and we will sorely miss him. Worth at least £3m in today's market......

Agreed, but maybe that's just why supporters can claim to have a valid opinion but not necessarily an objective one. I watch far too much football and like to think I'm quite knowledgeable about it - give me a random match where I'm a neutral and I reckon I could give a relatively balanced and smart opinion about the players from both sides and how each team set themselves up. Give me a Reading match and I could spend the entire 90 minutes without even being able to tell you who we were playing.

Excellent signing; thats the centre halves taken care of now - Gorkks, Pearce, Marriapa and Morrison, with Hector also coming through.

Very solid piece of business this. Pleased we've got our man, the Pozzo thing at Watford made this look very unlikely a couple of weeks ago.

Good looking guy too, that kind of detail can't be overlooked if we want to sell-out 30k+ in a couple of years.

Good signing - Providing Gunter signs I think we will be strong enough to survive and with a good start we could make mid table.

This could be our best signing this year. Lots of experience, still young at 25, tall, strong, quick, great attitude (Captain at Watford) and will be hungry to succeed.
