Good luck to Mills on loan at Burnley.

Can't help thinking he was bigged up far too much when Harte's form crashed last year. He had obvious attributes, but his technical short comings were all too obvious.

Impressive pace and a desire to get forward were compromised by woeful passing when not even under pressure, and terrible reading of the game.

If he comes back, he could be good ....

Good news - glad it is just a loan.

If he can play 30 plus games next season he has a real chance of stepping up to the PL.

Good move for him, makes perfect sense. A year of first-team Championship football, then step up to (hopefully) Premier League next year when Harte/Shorey/both leave.

Wish him luck and hope he is a regular fixture for them this season. As others have already said a loan deal works as if we find ourselves back in the Championship he could be useful to us again in the future. However I am happy to be proved wrong on this, but I don't see him ever playing a significant part for us in the future if we establish ourselves in the top flight.

It's a good move. Let's hope he gets a hair cut while he's up there.

Good move for him, hope he plays. Showed potential last season, but fair to say he's not ready for the PL yet. Decent Championship player atm.

Near his brother too - Mills the elder has moved to Bolton already this summer.

Good news, rarely looked accomplished in the Champ. Get 40-odd games under your belt - if you're good enough that is - and then we'll talk next summer.

USA_Loyal_Royal it wouldnt be good if we sold mills...this is the exact reason for the tsi takeover, that we DIDNT have to sell our players so we could further develop them. harte is 34 and shorey is 31 were going to need j. mills in a couple of seasons. a season long loan to a championship side will do him a lot of good! same goes for church, he could come good soon.

agreed, mills is not bad going forward but needs to improve his delivery, the big area he needs to focus on is once commited going forward is getting back quickly - he has the pace but often he was exposed for not getting back

Big area he needs to focus on is defending at the far post, been caught nappiong before. This is also a weakness for Shaun Cummings.

Don't think he was that bad, but equally didn't think he was all that useful. Although I did enjoy his attempts to try and kick Zaha up in the air at Selhurst.

Agreed - IMO the trouble with Mills was that he wasn't sufficiently dark or satanic.

I got flamed on here by some resident members for daring to criticise him last season. His speed and overlapping down the wing were good (at times), but even the most straightforward pass to Jobi would be passed out of play, or a hospital ball in to midfield would lose us possession. Time and time again.

Obviously Brian sees something in him hence the loan, but don't forget he literally sunk without trace when Harte woke up and I was never convinced his ongoing absence was injury related.

IMO he was nothing more than a pretty quick runner with a left peg. Happy to be be proved wrong the season after next as surely this will be Harte's last season and Shorey isn't exactly a long term solution.

I'm with you BF. Nothing I've seen of him suggests he'll ever be a Prem player, looked out of his depth in the C'ship tbf. Still, happy to be proved wrong if he has a blinding season at Burnley.

Hope it works out for the guy maybe he just needs a run of games for him to put some form together. Especially with Harte a 50/50 after this season to stay probably. Hope we may see something similar as we did with Cummings look what everyone first thought about him lets face it.

Work in progress. I saw enough last season to suggest he might turn into a decent player.
