Football in this Country ISN'T racist. Quite why Clarke Carlisle, Jason Roberts and other black players are on a mission to prove this, is a waste of time.

Maybe if more black players spent more time on coaching/studying football instead of harping on about racism, we'd have more successful black coaches/managers in the game....

I agree with this; Britain is actually a far more tolerant place than anyone who reads the Guardian or who watches the BBC would have you believe. If it wasn't, there would have been terrible revenge attackes on Muslims after 7/7.

Also, racism isn't only a "white on black" issue - I have witnessed afro-caribbean's being racist to asians, both Indian sub-continent and south east asian, and asians being racist to whites.

Just a thought though; this thread was about John Terry, and now it has changed to being about racism in football - can the mods close this thread down (and I can tell my Grand-children that I had a 34 pager!!) and maybe someone else start a new thread to discuss the important issue of racism in football??

Racism (and xenophobia which is linked) is still very definitely a problem in this country. It's just not a particularly overtly large impact problem. It's still there as an underlying issue, but mostly racists know to be careful expressing their views openly in public too much.

If it wasn't a problem, the Daily Mail and other papers wouldn't bang on about immigrants all the time. It would also be able to distinguish the difference between asylum seekers, immigrants and illegal immigrants.

If it wasn't a problem, I, in my very sheltered life, wouldn't have seen numerous examples of it. If it wasn't a problem, I wouldn't have had to have the misfortune of taking a call from someone who thought it was acceptable to say to me that "they should all go back to banana land" And that's just the most extreme of plenty of examples.

The amount of black players has risen pretty dramatically over the last 20 years, so it's a no brainer that the amount of black coaches and managers will rise over the next 10-20 years. Increasing that number now just to please these idiots won't help anybody.

The issue of racism is going to take far longer to ease out of the game if kunts like John Barnes blame his shit coaching career on the fact that he is black rather than just a useless mongdiv
