Big Foot To all those saying about signing older players who are "past their prime" - just think of Inzaghi as the level up from Jason Roberts.

That would be Jason ROberts who's about 4 years younger than him right?

Much more like Les Ferdinand

This reminds me of Romario playing at the top level in his country at such a big age for an outfield player. Wasn't he at Vasco until a very similar age still plying his trade?

Who gives a shit if he's too old? It's Filippo Inzaghi! I'd give my one remaining bollock to see him in a Reading shirt.

Romario was 43 when he finally gave it up.

He'd be just 39 at the start of the coming season, but the class would be awesome

So what "old" players were still able to cut it in the top division

50 Stanley Matthews, Blackpool (played for England aged 42 +104 days!!)

40 Terry Sherringham (Last game was 40 and 260 days)
40 Gordon Strachan, Coventry
39 Bryan Robson (His last game he was 10 days off being 40)
39 Stuart Pearce, West Ham
39 Nigel Winterburn, West Ham
39 Ray Wilkins, QPR
38 Lee Dixon, Arsenal
38 Gary Speed, Bolton
38 Mark Hughes, Blackburn
38 Denis Irwin, Wolves

Pretty much sums up my thoughts on it.

my only concern is his goal scoring record as of late. he hasnt had a decent season since 2009. im hoping that the last 3 seasons he has been used as a late sub or something so he didnt get that many goals but if not then i wouldnt personally want him.

I dount it means much but I can't find the Inzaghi report on Sky sports anymore. Perhaps they removed it due to lack of substance?

Royal Lady We've already saved tonnes of money by signing 3 good players on a free - so for a £1 million punt - for a year - I think this could be a goer. But won't exactly be distraught if it doesn't go through.

People always say this but its a simplistic view RL..

What I mean is, if we'd already paid £15million + or something instead of getting these players on a free, then you might think, "is it worth paying him a million for a year" - but, as it is, we've got some bargains, and even though the wage bill will be a lot higher, we'll have much more extra money this year than we would have done, so it's possibly worth a punt.

Sure but 4 year deal, 4 year deal, 3 year deal, 3 year deal, 3 year deal, 1 year deal

The budget will be spread over those years..

You've not considered signing on fees, which can take the place of a transfer fee. For all you know we've spent a lot more than the £4-5m in transfer fees for Marriapa and Gunter by giving signing on fees to Guthrie, Pog, McCleary & Shorey in addition to their wages.

It doesn't matter how old he is. It doesn't matter how good he is, or even if he scores or us. What's important is that inzaghi becomes a Reading player.

Interesting, but given that you've just admitted that you don't know the first thing about him, should we bother to listen to what you want anyway?
