If you think he peaked at 22 you must have been in a coma for when he was 23,24,and 25!
I couldnt care less about his other commitments. He WILL score goals. Done it his whole career.
You must have the IQ of about 3 if you think Hunt or Church are better goalscorers, he will do a job for one season!
Point out where I said Hunt and Church are better goalscorers? Owen was brilliant to start with aye, but that was YEARS ago. Signing players based on past reputations when they've been sitting on a bench for 3 years not giving a toss isn't an intelligent transfer strategy.
Owen's been finished for years, Liverpool recognised that when they sold him off to Real Madrid. He was all to happy to sit on the bench on a massive wage before going to NUFC to not give a shit on an even bigger wage.
Why would he be motivated at Reading? He's a lazy pillock who thinks the sun shines out of his arse. He gave up on football a long time ago and will be an utterly dreadful signing for anyone fool enough to sign him.

Upper West Ginger If this were ever to happen - and I don't for a moment think it will - then the best role for Owen would be to coach the likes of Church and the younger strikers rather than trying to play the game himself. Passing on what he knows to those keen to learn would be priceless.

I may be misremembering history, but I suspect this may be unfair. I seem to recall he was actually very good when called upon, but playing second fiddle to king Raoul kept him on the bench.

36 apps for RM, 13 goals. Mostly from the bench as you say due to Raul being ahead of him. Very good record there.

TheSiege When RFC need hungry 20-goals a season goalscorers just to stay in the division, why is anyone talking about a retired racehorse owner?

We don't need a 20+ goalscorer, that statement is incorrect.

arreff Doyler says that if one of our strikers gets 10-15 goals this season we should stay up comfortably. Well Yakubu scored 17 last year for Blackburn and they didn't.
