One things for sure with the 10pt deduction Portsmouth will start the season with it's going to take a miracle for them to avoid relegation,

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/pompey-won-t-face-further-league-points-loss-1-4158662

They won't be starting the season on -10 will only come in to affect when they get a new owner.

larry1971
buzzby Awww it's one of the lowest 5 budgets in the league.

you just wonder how the hell they are going to survive with only a couple of week to go untill the transfer window closes they have not got a lot of time left to get in the experienced players they will need apart from out of contract players I can't honestly see why any player would want to sign for a cub who's future is still so uncertain .One things for sure with the 10pt deduction Portsmouth will start the season with it's going to take a miracle for them to avoid relegation.

Somewhat ironically, they'll start the season on a level playing field as the 10pt deduction will only come into play when Chainrai takes control officially. It's just a deferral, though.

Whilst I would prefer to see the club die for the way they have treated tax payers and local suppliers, the next best thing is a slow lingering death and that seems to be what is happening here.

Oh, and this from the local news website - one of the rare ocassions a Pompey fan has spoken some sense.

"Everyone is moaning about this £4m budget MA is not getting, yet you all Champion the Trust. Well if they got in, MA would have £2.65m budget. Wonder how many would moan then or even dare to moan? Remember we blew off £150m of debt, like a piece shiit on our shoes, we laughed at local businesses while paying TBH et al £36k a week, we stuck our middle finger up to schools and charities while paying £1.8m for Huseklep. I 4 1, have no problem with relegation and £1.5m budget, you reap what you sow, we are now getting what we deserve.

I bet if he'd said similar a few years ago he would have been vilified by his fellow supporters.

Plymouth are not a big odds on and Bournemouth are odds against to beat Portsmouth on Saturday.

Am I missing something here or are Portsmouth going to play either a youth team or a disperate bunch of old pros put together on the cheap at a few days notice so this is, effectively, free money?

Looks like he lives in Denmead which is to Portsmouth as Sonning Common is to Reading.

Looks like Youth teams players will make up the team, not sure to what extent though. They had a fairly decent team out against Aldershot that consisted mainly of "trialists" (Brian Howard, John Harley, etc) but i dont know if they are registered to play in this or not.

I know a Portsmouth fan who could name the Reading team who played Portsmouth in the 7-4 defeat but not his current 1st team. :D

Ah, T-Rex. I do miss his inane Janner rambling. Where has he got to, I wonder? Trolling the Torquay message boards no doubt.

Plmouth may be in a shocking state at the mo but they look positively well run in comparison to Pompey. At least when they went into administration, they cut their cloth and didn't keep spending a division above their status.

Not going to argue with that at all.

Whenever I think of Plyms I recall that fat pcunt who steamed into the travelling Southbank on his own in the pouring rain in 1994.

I'm just trying to offer up an understanding of the odds for tonight's match, and one possible reason for team X being 1.67 at home to mid-August 2012 vintage Portsmouth could be that team X are themselves piss-poor.
