I'd prefer him to them. Because he's our player and they aren't. I'd certainly prefer him to Rhodes, Defoe or Zaha, because they'd be shit as defensive midfielders, centrebacks or full backs.

Why would including Gunnarsson in the 25 man squad have any impact on whether we could include the 19 year old Zaha?

Also, we can't afford* the majority of those players so it's a moot point.

This Gunnarsson thing has been going on for a long time. I got the impression that RFC wanted him to remain with us in a coaching capacity. He was obviously pushing for an extra years playing contract. Continuously, over the last 6 weeks, stories in the press have said 'Gunnarsson to sign a new contract' but, nothing ever happens. I think that BMcD has already realised that Gunnarsson will not add to our Prem options and will only take him as a coach. We still have money and a good signing to take the place in the 25 that Gunnarsson might have taken, would be a good move!
