North stand post match

by Greatwesternline » 17 Aug 2012 18:16

The OS has just said that the North Stand will be open after matches for drinking? Am i reading this correct? I've only seen the tweet and can't access the new site on my phone.

Is this a new idea or have they done it previously? I cant remember ever sipping courage's finest post match?

This was pioneered by Brighton last year and was really successful there, so it's worth a try.

People get a chance to have a drink and wait for the traffic to die down, so there's less stress on the buses/car-parks, and there's also extra beer sales. Well worth a try.

At £4.30 a pint?? I don't think it'll be THAT successful.

I read elsewhere that the upper level in the hotel is closed for drinks on match days, maybe its to help offset that?

The North Stand concourse bars has worked well for London Irish over many seasons.

I think you miss the fact that there are enough idiots willing to pay it, much like £32 to watch Stoke City!!1

We went to the North stand after the game. Probably 50 people in there including stoke fans. They closed the shutters at 5:30'ish

You only have to look at the Bundesliga to see how keeping the stands open for a drink after the game is successful. It was cheaper than £4.30 a beer though. The park leading up to Cologne's ground has bars and beer kiosks - can just stand in the park before/after the game for a beer. And also sit in your seat drinking beer during the game. From a fans point of view - Bundesliga is the best imo.

Brighton last season was a great reason to kick back after the game, miss the crush of the train and just have a beer.
