Sunderland fan in peace

by Paxton » 19 Aug 2012 23:54

Hello, and welcome back to the Premier league! :D

So our first fixture at home this season will be against you lot. Personally I cannot wait for this one, and should be an exciting match for both teams! It will be good to welcome you all back to the Stadium of Light, as Reading fans have always came across as pretty decent to me. I am pretty anxious as I still don't know which way this match will go, it all really depends on which signings we make this week.

As we build up to the game next week I thought I would come on here and ask you a few things, it has indeed been awhile since our last meeting.

1.) What is your prediction for the game? (Score/Goalscorers)
2.) What do you think of Sunderlands transfer dealings so far this Summer?
3.) What do you think of Readings transfer dealings so far this Summer?
4.) Any Sunderland players that you should watch out for next week?
5.) Also, any Reading players that we should be looking out for?
6.) Sunderlands final league position
7.) Readings final league position

All the best for the rest of the season lads, and good luck when you are hammering the Scum! (Newcastle) :P
Thank you.

Mr O'Neill, is that you?

1.) What is your prediction for the game? (Score/Goalscorers)
Sunderland 1-1 Reading (Sessegnon, Le Fondre)

2.) What do you think of Sunderlands transfer dealings so far this Summer?
Bad - still one or two to come I would expect

3.) What do you think of Readings transfer dealings so far this Summer?
Time will tell - of the four new players on the pitch (at some stage on sat) - Pogrebnyak had a bad game, Gunter had a pretty bad game for him, Guthrie had a great second hafl not so good first half and McCleary from the bench was fantastic.

4.) Any Sunderland players that you should watch out for next week?
Frazier Campbell and Sessegnon

5.) Also, any Reading players that we should be looking out for?
McCleary and Le Fondre

6.) Sunderlands final league position
13th

7.) Readings final league position
15th

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Welcome to the board, be prepared for lots of sarcastic answers as we've had plenty of stoke fans asking the same thing :D

1.) What is your prediction for the game? (Score/Goalscorers)
1-0 Reading - Pogrebnyak. Think we need to go for a win here to get us going.

2.) What do you think of Sunderlands transfer dealings so far this Summer?
Pretty poor so far, Saha and Cuellar I think? Keep hearing Fletcher being banged about too for a lot of cash, which would also be average IMO. I'm sure O'Neill knows what he's doing though.

3.) What do you think of Readings transfer dealings so far this Summer?
We've bought well quickly and under the radar. Brian has got 2 in every position with competition and has had time to gel the team together, somLething he is not used too. McCleary looks like he is going to make a real impression, Pogrebnyak and Guthrie look like real class, Gunter will improve quickly. Hope to see Mariappa soon

4.) Any Sunderland players that you should watch out for next week?
I think we'll struggle to contain Sessegnon. Larsson looked good in the Euros too.

5.) Also, any Reading players that we should be looking out for?
Hard to say yet. McCleary will run at defenders. Le Fondre will be a nuisance and Leigertwood will dominate the midfield.

6.) Sunderlands final league position
10th

7.) Readings final league position
14th

Paxton All the best for the rest of the season lads, and good luck when you are hammering the Scum! (Newcastle) :P
Thank you.

Cheers, you too, make sure you hammer the scum that is West Ham :D

1.) What is your prediction for the game? (Score/Goalscorers)
Heart says 1-0 Reading (ALF), head says 1-1, my Mackem wife and Inlaws say easy Sunderland Win

2.) What do you think of Sunderlands transfer dealings so far this Summer?
Expected them to do a bit more in all honesty. Think you need to turn your attention away from Fletcher for £12m though.

3.) What do you think of Readings transfer dealings so far this Summer?
On the whole we have a team now that should be able to stay up. McCleary looks a good prospect on the wing and with ex-Magpie Guthrie we have a bit more creativity in the middle of the park. Pogrebnyak could be an astute signing but looked a touch off the pace on Saturday. Shorey, Gunter and Mariappa have come in which should hopefully give a bit more competition and cover.

4.) Any Sunderland players that you should watch out for next week?
I have seen quite a bit of Sunderland recently and Sessegnon looks a tidy player. Larsson too can change a game when on form.

5.) Also, any Reading players that we should be looking out for?
ALF is our fox in the box type striker, always seems to chip in with important goals. As mentioned above, McCleary looks a tricky winger who is happy to take on defenders and cause a bit of trouble.

6.) Sunderlands final league position
Below Reading (15th)

7.) Readings final league position
Above Sunderland (14th)

1.) What is your prediction for the game? (Score/Goalscorers)
Sunderland to win 2-1 (89th minute winner)

2.) What do you think of Sunderlands transfer dealings so far this Summer?
No idea who you've bought tbf

3.) What do you think of Readings transfer dealings so far this Summer?
Shit

4.) Any Sunderland players that you should watch out for next week?
Surely you should know this already?!

5.) Also, any Reading players that we should be looking out for?
Yep

6.) Sunderlands final league position
Top 20

7.) Readings final league position
Bottom 20

3) Happy but would like another stiker
4) Larsson and Sess...
5) McCleary, Ledge and Guthrie (Surely wanting to stick one on you lads)

1.) What is your prediction for the game? (Score/Goalscorers)
1-1, Sessègnon and Harte

2.) What do you think of Sunderlands transfer dealings so far this Summer?
average, but if you do get Adam Johnson he would be a good signing imo.

3.) What do you think of Readings transfer dealings so far this Summer?
pleased with the signings so far, especially Guthrie. but i still think we need to improve our forward line.

4.) Any Sunderland players that you should watch out for next week?
Sessègnon, McClean, Larsson.

5.) Also, any Reading players that we should be looking out for?
Le Fondre, Guthrie is neat in the middle and McCleary had a great debut when he came on.

6.) Sunderlands final league position
10th

7.) Readings final league position
16th

@Paxton ...

If you answer questions as well as asking them .....

- best way to/from Stadium of Light from Newcastle Central? Would that be the Metro?

- If so, how long to allow and is Stadium of Light Metro station the best stop to use or are there any other tips to know?

By the way Paxo, you must be happy with the point away at Arsenal? I know I'd settle for that when we go there.

From Central I would use the metro, £3.75 return ticket, and get off at Stadium of Light station.

Give yourself at least 35 minutes in advance, from Central it's about 25 minutes (18 station stops) and then it's about an 8-10 minute walk from the station to the ground.

I was indeed, however I do think that if we had a PROPER striker on the pitch that day we could have possibly won the game. However, Arsenal did have a few good chances themselves and easily could have took it. We were toothless up front.

Here's my analysis:

1.) 2-1 Sunderland (Sessegnon, New Striker) (Le Fondre)

2.) I think so far our transfer business has been very shrewd. We lacked experience and depth in the squad and these are quality additions. Carlos Cuellar partnered John O'Shea at the Emirates, and they looked like they had been playing together for years, was the key reason we came away with 1 point. And Saha is the perfect 'impact sub' striker that we need to bring off the bench, I doubt he will be starting most games, as like I said hopefully we have 1 or 2 more strikers in by the end of the week, but he can score some valuable goals if used effectively.

3.) So far I think you have done well. Pogbregnyak looked decent at Fulham towards the end of last season, scored some important goals, however he did tail off in the last few games. You have a quality midfielder in Guthrie, and should add some creativity. And finally that McCleary (sp?) looks a talent.

4.) You will find it very hard to keep Sessegnon out the game, one of the best players I have ever seen for us. McClean and Larsson are also a big threat down the wings (If we have a proper striker!)

5.) Le Fondre looks a player mind.

6.) 9/10th (Europe will be too far out of reach)

7.)13/14th (You will comfortably stay up)

Hello Sunderland fan Paxton,

1.) What is your prediction for the game? (Score/Goalscorers)
2-1 REA (Campbell - Pog, Jobi Mac late, why not)
2.) What do you think of Sunderlands transfer dealings so far this Summer?
Well, made money so far I think  Why not give Saha another roll...
3.) What do you think of Readings transfer dealings so far this Summer?
Cheap but solid value, especially Guthrie if he stays in form and happy
4.) Any Sunderland players that you should watch out for next week?
Sessegnon, Larsson
5.) Also, any Reading players that we should be looking out for?
Pog, McCleary will hopefully deserve "look out for", a few others in decent form already
6.) Sunderlands final league position
13th
7.) Readings final league position
15th

1.) What is your prediction for the game? (Score/Goalscorers)
fairly boring, Reading fans discussing when Kebe will be back

2.) What do you think of Sunderlands transfer dealings so far this Summer?
have the done any? can't say any transfers have stood out for me as particularly good additions

3.) What do you think of Readings transfer dealings so far this Summer?
good squad strengthening but not sure Pogrebnyak is the striker we needed, still he's a quality player and hopefully will find a place in our system. Really pleased to get Gunter in and Guthrie could be a star

4.) Any Sunderland players that you should watch out for next week?
Only Sessegnon really

5.) Also, any Reading players that we should be looking out for?
Roberts could come straight back into the team after serving his suspension and was the catalyst for our promotion last year, could surprise a few who might have seen him as nothing more than a sub at this level previously. Guthrie has the ability, just hope the players around him are good enough for him to shine.

6.) Sunderlands final league position
mid table

7.) Readings final league position
fully expecting relegation, but McDermott is a phenomenal manager and could pull off something special
