Interesting baptism of fire for Rodgers' first game.

On one hand Liverpool certainy didn't get the rub of the green with a soft dismissal and a soft penalty.

However late on WBA had two or three excellent chances to add to the scoreline.

Good to hear a few of the Rodgers sound bites have made it to Anfield.

I though Rodgers lost his arrogance at Swansea and he learnt from spouting crap, but since he's been at Liverpool, he's gone back to his usual bollocks when he joined us. Can see it ending in disaster!

Relax. Pre-season doesn't end until November.

The Goat was fed It is vastly amusing to see the Bodgers we know and love giving the Scousers a taste of his Reading experience, i.e.:

1. Bombing out players he's decided he doesn't fancy before barely seeing them play.
2. Recruiting (or attempting to recruit) his former players irrespective of whether they're actually needed or beeter than he's got.
3. Imposing a playing system irrespective of the players at his disposal.
4. Talking absolute bollocks on a regular basis.

This is pretty much it isn't it. It's early days, but I fully expect him to show he hasn't learned anything from his time with us. And his own hype has deluded him once again.

It's just one game. However, it seems like BR just walks about with a template that if the team don't fit it, he's f/cked.

It is only one game but with their next 4 league games being Man City (h), Arsenal (h), Sunderland (a) and Man Utd (h) things will need to go fit very quickly otherwise L'pool could be in for a very bad start.

One game in and we're already writing Rodgers' scouse mission off as a failure? Unlike HNA to have such a knee-jerk reaction to a bad result...

You missed 5. Being shite.

You certainly missed "it will get worse before it gets better as I commence my long term project (to relegate Liverpool before I'm sacked)".

I think they could be in the relegation zone after 5 games.

Teams figured out how to play Swansea at the end of last season, a level that Liverpool have quite some way to reach.

Playing a system for which you do not have the personnel without compromise -in the face of some quite insurmountable evidence that it's not working - is what did for BR with us but there is no way the owners will get rid unless they are still in the relegation zone mid season.

Really? Which system is that then? Rodgers used more systems during his short time with us that Coppell and McDermott combined.

He didn't make things work no, and tried to change too much too quickly, but sticking with one playing system wasn't something he did, let alone got wrong.

I also find it strange that anyone would assert that a group of predominantly international players couldn't be expected to play a system that involves a lot of passing the ball and running around.

Liverpool used to be the masters of this in the 80's - it was from them that i first learnt about "triangles"

If BR stays in charge do you reckon this thread could do another 100 pages by the end of the season?
