No Fixed Abode Chelsea won £47.3m prize money by winning the Champions League in May, almost £20m more than Manchester United, who failed to reach the last 16

So the net spend in the Abramovich era is......?

(well done for the copy/paste from the BBC site by the way)

Which says a lot given Ferguson has been there about 15 years longer.

And Reading have extended their record of being the only present Premier League side not to have lost their opening day fixture in the Premier League.

(TBH haven't really checked the veracity of the last half of that sentence)

From the BBC Sportsday Live:-

FOOTBALL

Roberto Di Matteo claims Eden Hazard was 'targeted' by Wigan's players during a bruising Premier League debut for Chelsea.

Hazard, who was involved in both goals, found himself on the end of some tough challenges as the European champions overcame Wigan 2-0 on Sunday.

"He was certainly targeted, but I don't think there was any malicious intent by the Wigan players," Di Matteo says.

"It's just difficult to mark players like that."

How very dare they?

Apparently football began in the 90s.

I'm hard pressed to think of a feebler "record," though.

John Cross (of the Mirror) was on the radio earlier talking about how English clubs haven't done very well in the Champios' League in recent years.
Andy Jacobs (a Chelsea fan) reminded him that Chelsea won it last season.
I suppose it's a bit like the Eastern European team that won it and were so dull that people forgot about them immediately, same goes for Chelsea.

At least Roman the skinflint has put his hand in his pocket to buy some entertaining players as he also seems to have forgotten that they won it.
What a tight arse he is-that's only £1 billion that he has now supposedly invested in that plaything of a club-not a great return on his investment is it,one solitary Champs League and that the dullest and most defensive anti-football of all time.
