Alexander Litvinenko Ian Royal I'd say we've been fairly cautious in our welcoming, even though he has many hallmarks that make him being dodgy as feck unlikely.
Really?
Try publishing anything even vaguely questioning about him and see what reaction you get.
Yeah, but you've got an obvious agenda based on not a lot.
Alexander Litvinenko So what power or influence does SJM have at the moment? He might be chairman in name, but he has only 49% of the company and no real power.
Well being Chairman and owning 49% of the club he has a major voice in the way the club is run. He can be ignored, but he has to be heard. He has clearly been left with the reigns in his hands whilst Anton is out of the country. Given how much we know about Madejski and his stated (and demonstrated) aims and methods for the club, we therefore know that Anton's must be similar - at least short-term, or he wouldn't have given Madejski any control, no matter how transient it may be. And we also know that Madejski is unlikely to hang around in the roll if he thinks things are being gone about in the wrong way that put us at risk.
So whilst Madejski is happy as Chairman / Life President, Anton is saying all the right things and continues to be reasonably visible. And whilst we continue to operate relatively financially soundly and perform ok. I see no real reason to worry. Especially with Anton's behaviour so far and links to the area.
The second we get a sniff of something dodgy, we'll sit up and take notice. Just look at the response the suggestion that Pog was going to be on £65k a week got. Or that we should sign Owen. Or Rhodes for £6m. Or that we had a chance of signing Defoe! They were all met with caution and a hint of alarm that maybe we weren't going to be run in a sound financial way afterall. And none of them seem to have materialised as a problem.
A wholly different circumstance to welcoming some bloke no one's ever heard of or seen, who's never around and starts chucking money the club didn't have last week at big name players who are past their prime, or should be playing for a far better club. And celebrating a trophy win based on that conscience free.
