Sounds like Brian's back-up to Zaha to me.

But even if - a guy with champions league and plenty of French top flight experience at just 20 is a hit with me :D

Here's their thread on him for anyone who wants to see what they have to say... and understands French.

there's one guy backing him but in general they think he's shit and that the board have done something right in getting rid of him not just on loan but for a load of cash. even the ones who don't think he's all that bad can't be arsed to argue the toss.

Pretty rusty at French, but the general gist is an indifferent thanks for nothing.

Google translate gives a similar impression.

And one bloke asks if he'd want to go to a "Wooden club like Reading"! Wooden?

My knowledge of idiomatic French is a long way from being perfect, but I would have translated that as "out in the sticks", i.e. we are not one of the big city clubs (which is a fair enough description).

Maybe they thought we were 'wooden' because we still play at 'Elm' Park.

Tbh from that forum I got the impression that they think he has potential, but that it may be best for both parties if he moves on.

Let's be honest, to have played 60 times for Marseille by the age of 20 he must have something about him.

I saw the phrase 'gros pigeon' on the thread.

My French is not that good but a description like that doesn't sound great in anyone's language.

I remember reading something in like World Soccer or something similar around the start of last season about this lad. They were saying that although his brother Andre was the more established and older it was Jordan who was the most exciting prospect and was starting to get more games. I haven't heard much about him in the time since so he may have stagnated somewhat but it certainly sounded like he showed promise and realistically we could do a lot worse that pick up a young player who is not quite good enough for a team like Marseille yet. For the right price

RTL translation:

"While it was believed that leaders Olympique de Marseille were England to confirm the transfer of César Azpilicueta in Chelsea, there learned us yesterday that they were also negotiating for the loan of Joey Barton. But according to the Times, the leaders have accepted an offer of Reading about 4 million euros for Jordan Ayew.

The move to Marseille!

Stéphane me Bia which is bound to Queens Park Rangers, Gaël Kakuta and Joey Barton, who would be close to the OM, the departure of Azpilicueta to Chelsea which is to confirm... The mercato of Olympique de Marseille is actually launched. Last information dated of course remains to be confirmed, it is the departure of Jordan Ayew, younger brother of André Ayew, towards Reading, promoted to first team League this season.

According to the Times, a meeting took place between the sporting Director José Anigo OM and the Russian owner of the club, Anton Zingarevich, who owns 51% of the club. Reading has big ambitions on the transfer market and by recruiting Jordan Ayew, who wants to "have a time of game" as he said in his first press conference in Marseille, it is a beautiful case that they are there. Especially with the return to form of André-Pierre Gignac and the return of Loïc Rémy of injury, he would have no playing time that he wanted to."

Her's a little more...

Roughly translated:-

Jordan Ayew does not count on polishing the OM (substitutes') bench. To believe the Times, Reading have made an offer of € 4M for the Ghanaian striker which has been accepted by the club. However, the newspaper said that Ayew will not decide before the UEFA Europa League match against Sheriff Tiraspol.

TBM
The Rouge Doubting my football obsession is a strange move.

I saw all 5 of the Black Stars games in the last African Cup of Nations - he started at least a couple of them. I also saw some Marseille games last season.

So basically you just watched on TV?

Yes, full games though - never highlights. Are you actually, rather than backtracking, suggesting that people need to actually be at games to form an opinion on players in order to contribute to this section of the forum?

It's ok to hold your hands up sometimes you know.
