After the initial siege, I thought we were brilliant. Chelsea's third was a travesty - I hope the lino's next game is at Morecambe and it is pissing down frogs - and the fourth was almost inconsequential.

Thought Pog was immense in the first half before running out of steam. For a while he totally owned Cahill and was throwing Terry around like a used tissue. Fantastic goal as well after a superb delivery by McCleary. Reminded me very much of the Kebe/Roberts combination for the goal against Southampton and Brian obviously has them working hard on getting that type of delivery into the box. If only Pog had timed the ball to Jobi better and Pearcey got any type of touch on Harte's free kick, we seriously could have been 4-1 up at half time.

Must admit I was very surprised by the way Brian set up the team with Guthrie sitting just behind Pog and playing natural width. Very brave. Feel a lot more confident about the rest of the season after that, but I still think we need to add a little quality in midfield and support for Pog.

No Fixed Abode Entertaining game

Reading were a bit dirty with late tackles - ref should have issued more cards
Pog and McCleary your best players
Hazard looks top notch
Reading fans pretty quiet considering it's one of your cup finals this season

Nah don't consider Chelsea that big a game.. looking forward to

Man City/United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs the big 5!

Not really m9

Superb game last night, especially the first half and the Pog heading in a beauty after not winning a single header on Saturday. I was watching it in a pub in Brackers and was lolling away at 2-1 up surrounded by Chelsea, still felt strangely chuffed at the end despite the score.

As for the Chelsea fans I was with a m8 last night who's supported them all his life and goes to away games reguarly, he said he never wants to step foot in Stamford Bridge again in his life because the home support is such an embarrassment so I'm not suprised to read how poor they were.

Listened to the game on Talksport and then watched the hour-long recording on Sky.
This was very similar to Saints away at Man City-the underdogs putting everything into the game but eventually the better class players coming good.Last night is not very important in the context of our season and the performance gave the fans a proud and exciting night out.

In the cold light of day we dropped two points against Stoke (a team with one of the worst away records in the Premier League)and we now play one of the lesser sides on Saturday where I suspect we really need to get a point otherwise we could well be bottom by the time we play Spurs.

Last season I thought there were two elements of our game that we got away with in the Championship but worried that the bad habits would bite us in the Premier League.
The first is that our full-backs tuck in centrally too far which supposedly is meant to form a barricade in front of the keeper but it also gives the opposition time out wide to make crosses or passes count.
The other is this practice of letting the opposition shoot from the edge or outside of the box-in the Championship the opposition aren't good enough to take advantage but it is now a higher level and we will get punished especially if our keeper carries on the way he has started.

I am often embarrassed when Reading fans are interviewed on BBC South but Mr A really does take the biscuit( and by the size of him quite a few pies.)
If that is how middle-aged Tory boys behave at football ,giving the "v"s like a man possessed,I really can never again take any of his postings seriously.

BTW delighted with the performances of McCleary and Guthrie but when will Brian work out what makes a decent left-back?
We have had the moderate Mills, the pedestrian Harte and only slightly better Shorey (from a defensive point of view albeit much better from an attacking perspective)?
Can't he just find one that can tackle and run?

Just a few points , some of you lot seem under the impression your soccer am style support was something to crow about last night . From the home chelsea end we heard you about half a dozen times , you actually all did 'who are ya ' and that stupid soccer am 'easy easy ' thing  the top tier of your support all sat down for most of the game and apart from the last 5 mins you sat in virtual silence in the second half .. the home support to your right is the family section - dads n kids and those above them the directors tier ... i know a lot of decent long term blues from reading / slough areas and have no animosity towards Reading fc its a nice family club .. but some of the rubbish im reading is laughable .
