People getting on Gunter`s back are starting to irritate me. Twice the player Cummings is, apart from the silly penalty he gave away, i think he has played well, when a pass hasnt been on he has played simple to the centre halfs, always offers an option going forward, and shown a couple of bursts against Stoke...

Ideal Penalty wasn't much his fault, first time he's been faced with a sneaky diving french pcunt.

That's ridiculous, he slid right into Hazard's foot just after Hazard had dragged the ball away. Foolish to slide at that moment I thought. Why not just contain it?

I tried counting the number of things wrong with this post but gave up. It was more than one per word.

You're 'location' provides an adequate retort.

Wasn't his fault, as Ideal stated, Hazard dived to win the penalty. Poor referring. Soft, soft penalty.

Blinkered in the extreme. Gunter made clear contact with Hazard after he shifted the ball; Hazard went down like any of our players, or any professional players would. Stone wall.

This must be a wind up...???!!

I think Gunter has got great potential to be a classy right back for us but it was absolute school boy to jump into a tackle like that. Stupid decision.

Agreed. As Royal sided as I am, it was a penalty, and we would be screaming for it at the other end. Think Long Vs Liverpool.

With some signings, such as Pogrebnyak and Guthrie, you can look at them and see exactly why we signed them. That's not the case with Gunter, who (to me at least) doesn't appear to be any better than Cummings. I'd be interested to see how well Cummings could link up with McCleary, if Kebe is out of the side for a while.

When McCleary was on fire for Forest
who was the right-back who partnered him?

Oh

Oh

Yes, I'm aware of that. However it seems very restrictive to say that if we want to use McCleary we MUST partner him with Gunter who - in my opinion - seems no better than Cummings (and in some areas possibly weaker). That's why I commented that I would like to see how well Cummings and McCleary could play together.

But we KNOW he did well at Forest and works very well with McCleary

And he's played just two games, one against the European Champions
and didn't play BADLY in either

I think there's actually a danger I might agree with you here.
As in my original post, my point was that it isn't immediately apparent what he brings to the team in place of the person he has displaced. He didn't play especially poorly, but neither was he especially good. So wouldn't it be good to try Cummings and McCleary together to see if that works as well - or possibly even better - than Gunter + McCleary?
