akranes F**king hell. This would be an awful signing...

On what basis?

I don't like West Ham...

so you only want Reading to ever sign players from clubs you like unbelievably ridiculous attitude..

Carlton Cole is a strange player on his day he can be a real handful for any defender he holds the ball up well but is never going to be more than a 10 to 12 goal a season which is more than what Church or Le Fondre will get at Premiership level if Reading didn't have Jason Roberts then Cole would be a good signing but they are far to similer kind of strikers and Cole won't offer Reading any thing different from what they already have with Roberts.

Cole strikes me as a player with bags of talent who's just a bit of a nearly man who never quite delivers the goods his ability promises. He's good, he's better than Church and Hunt and probably Roberts. But he's unlikely to be better than Pog and it's impossible to say how good ALF is going to prove to be right now, but I want to find out.

For £5m and £55k a week, I ain't really interested.

From Despair To Where?
Stranded Most likely bollocks but a striker that has regularly scored 10-15 goals per season at both Prem and Championship level for £5m would be decent business.

And that striker isn't Carlton Cole.

Has scored at least 10 goals per season in the last 4 seasons.

Majority of Hammer fans seem to be gutted if he were to leave. Also due to wage cut is rumoured to be only on 14k a week.

Please dont buy anything from wham. They still owe millions over the Trevis fiasco, maybe they will go into liquidation with the olympic stadium costs. We can only dream.

A 28yo nearly man. At £5m i don't see what he would bring to the team that we don't already have therefore not decent business.

This would be a genuine waste of money. Is CC any better than what the club already have?

We have a twat test in the interview now. It's psychometric apparently. Multiple Choice. Sample question: Little old lady is trying to cross the road - do you a) help her b) ignore her c) go get your pimped up Hummer with the blacked out windows, hurl abuse, feign to knock her over so she drops her shopping trolley thingy and drive off laughing loudly with your mates whilst Flo Rida is playing on your car stereo.

If you answer C you have to have a second interview with JM to make sure your "signing picture" shirt that you chose doesn't have swearing on it. Or advertising for a rival Supermarket.

agreed, when ever I saw him play for England's u21's he looked to have so much potential but for some reason he has never quite managed to for fill that potential perhaps it's because prior to his move to West Ham he never really got a decent starting run in his previous clubs or his managers just didn't know how to get the best out of him. Certainly in his first couple of years at West Ham he blew cold far more than he did hot and it was only when we appointed Gianfranco Zola as manager that Cole finally started to show the quality that he has .Ill certainly be gutted to see Cole leave moe so because if it happens and with only a week to go untill the transfer window closes we would struggle to find a replacement - but having just sold Sam Baldork to Bristol City I think it's very unlikely we'ed sell another striker.

I'd be very surprised if there was any substance to this. Whilst I think CC is a fantastic player, we have ample quality of back to goal strikers in POG and Roberts. If we are in the market for a striker it will surely be a on the shoulder striker in the mould of long or defoe.

For the money he'd cost we could get Defoe.

This is a rubbish rumour
