Blinkered in the extreme. Gunter made clear contact with Hazard after he shifted the ball; Hazard went down like any of our players, or any professional players would. Stone wall.

I think Gunter has got great potential to be a classy right back for us but it was absolute school boy to jump into a tackle like that. Stupid decision.

Agreed. As Royal sided as I am, it was a penalty, and we would be screaming for it at the other end. Think Long Vs Liverpool.

With some signings, such as Pogrebnyak and Guthrie, you can look at them and see exactly why we signed them. That's not the case with Gunter, who (to me at least) doesn't appear to be any better than Cummings. I'd be interested to see how well Cummings could link up with McCleary, if Kebe is out of the side for a while.

Yes, I'm aware of that. However it seems very restrictive to say that if we want to use McCleary we MUST partner him with Gunter who - in my opinion - seems no better than Cummings (and in some areas possibly weaker). That's why I commented that I would like to see how well Cummings and McCleary could play together.

I think there's actually a danger I might agree with you here.
As in my original post, my point was that it isn't immediately apparent what he brings to the team in place of the person he has displaced. He didn't play especially poorly, but neither was he especially good. So wouldn't it be good to try Cummings and McCleary together to see if that works as well - or possibly even better - than Gunter + McCleary?
