Royal Lady Schards just rang with his half time report - Feds defo at fault for both. Front players look immense - Pog, McCleary, Guthrie - defence is woeful. Said a lot of the crowd were chanting Alex McCarthy, which isn't going to help Feds -

Exactly. Won't be the first time that our 'supporters' have completely destroyed the confidence of one of our keepers. Still cringe at the stick Howie got at Wycombe away - led to him being substituted at half-time.

To be fair it didn't help that our manager kept gesturing at him to catch it.

I think McCarthy should be playing in the next game, but I don't agree with calling for him during the match.

If you can't hold irrational grudges and set out to completely destroy the psyche of someone who earns much, much more than you, then there is no point in being a football fan.

At that time I doubt Scott Howie earned much, much, more than many people!

Really do not think having a pop at Feds so early on achieves anything. Glad I am not there listening to it.

FFS he kept us in so many games last season. Doesn't he deserve just a tiny bit of support?! If it carries on until the end of Sep then yes look at it but jeering etc is really not on.

Neither do I, it doesn't help the player (Feds) so it doesn't help our team. I get my cathartic release by abusing the match officials, opposition fans and the other team. Plenty of choice! :)

Maybe he should stop dropping utter clangers on a regular basis. I think Federici having buttered banana bunches for hands might have rather more to do with his confidence being shot to buggery, than some fans chanting for McCarthy. If his psyche is so fragile that a bit of chanting when he's playing crap ruins him - then he should go get a job flipping burgers.

It's hardly motivational though, is it? I'm not so worried about his fragile ego as about the impact on our team.

Not really, but fans pay plenty to watch extremely well payed players, and spectating is a very emotional, cathartic and tribal thing. Fans expect at least competence and whilst I don't really go in for booing our own players or chanting for another player so soon, I don't begrudge those who do, when it's clear the player is actually dropping clangers and costing goals and points / progression.

Is it any surprise when Federici got stick for dropping the odd clanger throughout a season, that he's getting a hammering for (hopefully) getting a season's mistakes out of the way in the first three games.

We really can't afford many more clangers. I just hope he sorts his sh1t out soon.

Sebastian As I said before, booing Shane Long made him come good, so it may well work for Federici.

Sadly, Church looks beyond redemption.

Just my opinion: Boing a lazy b*st*rd player is fair enough, because it's their own fault and in this case a kick up the arse is helpful and justified. Booing a player who is trying his best and is lacking confidence is hardly going to help.
