Coming soon to a cinema near you - Robin Friday The Movie

by Slaps » 28 Aug 2012 22:53

Read today on the Empire website that plans are underway to make a movie on the life of Robin Friday based on the book The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw.

Who would you cast as Robin. My vote goes to Matt Smith (aka Dr Who) who almost become a professional footballer before he took up acting.

Visit http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=35002 to see more details.

Film Agency Wales part funding it. Expect history to be heavily rewritten.

Are they looking for 50,000 extras to play the crowd at the Tranmere game?

The fella from Cemetery Junction looks a little bit like him. If he grew his hair.
If this does ever get made I just hope they don't get Brand.

This could mean his time in Reading is just depicted like a montage in the opening sequence.

How are they going to recreate his 150 yard goal against Tranmere where he shot from Tilehurst Road and bounced it off the roof of The Spread Eagle before scoring while 350,000 fans went wild on the Southbank and the ref walked on his hands back to the centre circle?

If budget permits, I suspect that is a good call.

Read the thread title and immediately thought Russell Brand. although if it's being funded by FIlm Agency Wales, put an each way bet on Rhys Ifans.

Anyone but him. Don't mind the guy but he's far too much of a skinny pcunt. I've also seen 10 minutes of Arthur and vowed never to watch him acts again.
