TheSiege Well, this will make a lot of supposed-RFC supporters happy! Rhodes has gone to a BIGGER club! When Blackburn, owned by imbeciles, managed by a serial d*ckhead and in the Championship, take our place in the Prem next season, I hope that a lot of people will say - Oh! Maybe we were wrong!

What the fcuk are you chatting, you are seriously off your face, you really do talk utter bollox, not one of your posts has any meaningful sense, you poor, sad, delusional little pr*ck!

Why would we pay £8m for a Championship/League One striker?

We paid £300,000 for Adam Le Fondre.

Rhodes will eventually get into the Prem. It is'nt IF it is when? When he scores 20 goals in a season, he will be worth 20-40m and the team that bought him will have made a huge profit. Not us,of course, as far as some HNA contributors think, we are still in Div 1! Given the morons on this site, were we offered Messi, the only answer would be, only if he costs £500,000. No-one can ever understand absolute idiocy!!!!

LOL there's simply no fackin way he'll ever command a transfer fee in the region of £20-40M

I know he is an idiot (TheSiege) - but what odds would you offer on that claim?

TheSiege Good man, You've nailed your imbecility up there!

Why do you think Rhodes is a certain 20-goal Premiership striker? Aren't you just guessing?

I think he is definitely worth £4.5million with add ons based on performance.

TBh I'd rather we spent the money on him and at least took the risk rather than get no one in, which is looking increasingly likely. You miss every shot you don't take, as the great Wayne Gretsky once said.

I'd rather have Rhodes on the bench than Hunt any day of any week.

I'm no bookmaker but would be genuinely interested to see what odds they offer...

I am partially with you on this. Everyone kept talking about Rhodes not being worth £6M (when it was six!!!!) but as these deals all along seem to have been based on about half down and half on add ons, then to be worth the £6M then he, Rhodes, would have had to equal or exceed all the add ons stipulated. If he did then he would have been worth the £6M, if he didn't then the purchaser would have paid less. Having said that I am not sure that I would have gone to £4.5M up front for him. I would have done the deal for £6M based on 50/50 between up front and add ons but £8M is an awful lot. Whilst I hate to say this(AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!), I do agree with TheSiege that we should have been prepared to spend a little more cash on a couple of decent players BUT I don't advocate TheSiege's idea that we should be throwing £Ms around.

Girdler_Massive Does anyone know if that's a record for a championship side?

Depends by which record you are asking about; its supposedly the biggest transfer fee between 2 Championship sides, but I suspect Walcott's transfer from Saints to Arsenal involved more money.

I cannot believe there are idiots on here that think taking a 6m-8m punt on this guy is worth doing. Even if we do not get anyone else in, until yesterday we matched the teams that had done the most business in this window. there is a reason that the Venky's and Blackburn got relegated last season - mis-management! and they are still proving it with their comments and actions both on and off the pitch.

The fact that we have already seen two goals from the pog, roberts will get goals as i believe our other strikers will (yes maybe even simon church). I am 100% sure that there is still money to spend if the right player is made available. we have a settled starting 11 with good strength in depth out of all the teams that will be our competitiors against relegation over the season.

It's a £4.5m punt isn't it?

The rest are all add ons.

If he gets them promoted he'll be worth the extra £2-3m in performance payments.

Based on that maths a pretty decent deal.

We could have made an equivalent offer based on staying up.

Agreed, 4.5 million plus add ons and/or morrison would have been well worth a punt! We need another shoulder striker...

Jarvis recently went for £10mil+ to west ham. Though I imagine walcott or oxlade - Chamberlain will have gone for more than that after addons etc.

I think the question was meant to be whether this is a record for the highest fee paid by a Championship club.

Championship to Championship record is still Matt Mills?

Anywhere into the Championship - not a clue.

Championship to the Premier League there have been several higher.

Time will tell if we have built a side for the Championship and Blackburn for the Premier League or vice versa.
