Royal Rother Did you guys see BM on Sky last night? He explained how we conduct business.
Worth your while catching it.
Made me proud to have Reading as my 2nd team.

IdealAvon Royal Oh, and if we don't strengthen in the next hour then this time next year we'll be watching our best players leave in the window, not wondering who will come in........
Yeah, that's the saddest part, watching all the best players go and all the dead wood stay.
by winchester_royal » 31 Aug 2012 22:07
cmonurz No, it's not a weaker argument at all. Who cares how many players were signed? Two were a kid from Ireland who will probably never play for us, and a keeper we don't need.
Other teams signed players earlier in the summer, just like we did. Pog, Guthrie, McCleary and Gunter? Not entirely different to Rodriguez, Clyne and Davis. Comparable.
If £5m and a couple of free transfers is the extent of our ambition, then we'll end up back where this club seems to 'belong'.

But you guys were saying the same stuff last year. How did we get promoted?
Have we strengthened since last season?
Maybe we should just resurrect the old threads as we all just say the same things every fcuking year don't we?

paultheroyal Dont worry - you will hear the quote soon that having Kebe and Roberts back into the squad injury free will be like a new signing!

windermere_royalManchesterRoyals And to think we could have got someone like Clint Dempsey for a mere £6M...but he is off to the Spurs. Meanwhile the clock continues to tick...
Has he gone to spurs?

winchester_royalcmonurzLibertine I wouldn't be as concerned if the teams I considered to be in a very similar position to us hadn't greatly improved their squads.
Spot on.
We greatly improved ours a month ago. Southampton have waited until the last day. So be it.
We've still added more players to our squad than they have, and we finished aboved them last season, yet you won't find Saints fans whining tonight.
People talk about a 'statement of intent', but how often do they actually end up being beneficial. Chelsea tried to do it with Torres, Liverpool appeased their fans by spunking a load of money on Carroll etc.
We do smart thought-out business, not reactionary business.
