Platypuss
PieEater Surely if they are out contract and therefore have no club they can move between windows too. What the feck is Appy on about?

To join a club between windows you have to be out of contract before the window shuts.

Really, I never knew that. I thought that individuals had an inalienable right to earn a living regardless of any arbitrary contract or rule, that must be open to challenge in court by anyone without a contract.

So those players are stuffed if they are still at Pompey and the window shuts..........wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of them leave before 1st September.

^ Im sure thats the case also as there was a case of a player left on the dole recently until Jan for the same reason. But posts earlier in the thread suggest not? Im sure the players know where they stand.

I'm sure the players won't have a clue - their agents on the other hand .......

Portsmouth's administrator has given the club's prospective new owners two weeks to finalise their bids.

Former owner Balram Chainrai and the Pompey Supporters' Trust have both made offers to buy the League One club.

Administrator Trevor Birch said that as neither deal was close to completion he was unable to decide which offer was in the best interests of creditors.

"We have therefore decided to give both parties two weeks to finalise terms to acquire Portsmouth," he said.

"We will now work with Portpin and the Trust as they finalise their plans and seek to satisfy the Football League and the Professional Footballers' Association of their respective abilities to sustain the club in the future.

"We will also use this opportunity to request a review of the points deduction that is being held in abeyance on the club by the Football League."

After ALL this time and still neither deal close to completion??

As an aside, I have it on good authority that the administrators prefered purchaser is the Supporters Trust, and that Chanrai is absolutely the last resort for them; but the fact is that absolutely no-one else is in the slightest bit interested in buying Pompey whilst Chanrai has the £17M charge over the club.

I see Dave Kitson has fixed himself up with a deal at Sheffield Utd.

Good luck to him and hope he regains his old form.

Does anyone know the situation regarding the 10 point deduction - particularly in the light of the failure to complete the sale of the club.

They get the 10 point deduction when they come out of admin. The battle for Portsmouth is between the Trust takeover or Chanrai , Trevor Birch ( in charge of the administration) has indicated he will make a choice in the next 2 weeks . He may even liquidate the club if thats the best option for the CREDITORS.

So if they don't come out of admistration until May 2013, they get no deduction ........ or is that too simplistic ?

Yes but only because there won't be a Pompey by then. You can only be in administration for a max. of 12 months, so they have a max of about 4 months left to sort this out or they automatically liquidate.

If they dont exit administration within the timescale set by the football league then its -20 points

Luton Town were deducted 10 points in the 2007–08 League One season. Unable to agree to a CVA and exit administration, Luton were deducted a further 20 points at the start of the 2008–09 League Two season (this was in addition to 10 more points deducted for misconduct).

Lost 5 thousand fans in a few weeks! Owe players they have paid off 8 mill.. Cannot see how a fans trust can fund that AND fund a club. All current players on 1 month contracts. Can see them struggling to stay up as they cannot fill the bench as it is, not got off to a great start and have 10 points penalty to come!

The fans trust has allocated 2 million to pay off the players. The administrator got the players to agree to a reduction in what they were owed to get it down to 8 million , so its unlikely that they will agree to a further reduction. The 8 million currently owed will come from parachute payments. This does not include 3 million owed to Kanu who is going to court to try and get his money.

At last night's fans forum the trust let slip that they are now going to pay the £8.4 million to former players :

Update from Mick Williams, Pompey Supporters Trust

Mick gave an update to Conference on the position of the PST bid for the club. It is recognised that only so many details, for reason of confidentiality and sensitivity of the
situation, can be made public at this time.

The Trust have revised their bid for the club, and have matched Portpin's figure of £8.4 million for player compromises.

The Trust are working with Stuart Robinson as regards his potential purchase of Fratton Park and the surrounding land, although he isn't the only option and the Trust are also
talking to others.

The option is still there for the Trust to buy the ground outright themselves, but more pledges are required and the Trust urges fans to pledge as much as they can, with pledges
coming into the Trust all the time.
