Let's hope he's given more time than he was here to deliver it.

cmonurz There was an interview conducted with Sahin where he said he met Rodgers and was thoroughly impressed with the man and his vision for the club.

Yep, he certainly talks a good game, you can't argue with that.

Royal Rother I think that was Ian's little joke.

Your faith in me is your biggest weakness, young Rother.

Liverpool in the relegation zone after 3 games.

Some of their fans think they'll be there come the end of the season. They're almost as negative as Reading fans! :D

Royal Rother Not that I'm an avid watcher but they played as well as I've seen them play for ages today - except in front of goal.

I know the aim of the game is to score goals but tbh I thought it looked like the style was evolving into something quite promising for the future.

but Liverpool are toothless up front - .

PlasticRoyale It's only taken 4 games to rule themselves out of the running this season...must be a record!

Have they beaten the record?

Agreed that there is definitely something in the style that looks promising, but Liverpool are toothless up front - their most attacking option off the bench today was Downing, who has been told to be prepared to learn to play left-back this season.

Exactly. Reminds me of all that possession we had when BR took over, but little to show wrt goals and wins. I think his success at Swansea should be credited to Martinez who built that side into a team that played the way they did. BR was just a caretaker: he desires to build a team that wins by possession and nice finishing, but does not know how to do it himself.

He lives in a reality distortion field that would make Steve Jobs proud.

This is exactly what I've been telling my Liverpool supporting chums. The man is a charlatan who's only success was at a club where he inherited a footballing philosophy and players who could play in that way.

The three clubs who he's worked at where he's tried to force that style upon the incumbent players have all struggled.

Think he's got a particular challenge with Gerrard, who is a fantastic player, but no someone who is suited to patient, possession based football.

Although for every person saying it's all down to BR's incompetence, there are two or three saying that he's been hung out to dry by FSG and the lack of money available to him in the transfer window.

TBH, if he can hang on in there without being under serious threat of relegation then he can probably do the job he promises over the next two seasons. The only question is whether he can stay high enough up the table for the management not to have to start panicking.

Liverpool really should be much more certain of survival than we were able to be when he was with us. Not the best start though.

He made it very clear that Carroll was not wanted. He made his bed now he's got to lie in it!

Utterly stupid decision to freeze Carroll out like that. Didn't even give him a chance.

Victor Meldrew

Victor Meldrew Liverpool's opening day defeat at WBA doesn't look quite so bad now after the much vaunted Everton also lose there.

that must make you feel a lot better

Did you really feel the necessity to post such a considered and well-thought gem at 1.00 on a Sunday morning?
Sad or what to be posting drivel on a football club's website about another football club that you have no interest in.

Interesting point VM, and thanks for raising it. As a Reading fan this is MY website and I'll post what I want, when I want. The big question is, as a fan of another club, what the fuck are you doing on here?

Interestingly enough there were a few Liverpool fans on 606 moaning about:

a) Playing well for 20 minutes and then fading out of a game and
b) Not having a plan b

I think it would bre ridiculous to juge at this stage but I do remember exactly the same comments from Reading fans during Rodgers' tenure at the Mad Stad.

TBF - Arsenal were class today.
