Hmm, just a few days before bringing his team up to Stag Meadow....

I got on fine with him, and some Windsor fans are still pissed off that Keith Scott was appointed instead of him, but I'm pretty sure some of the Windsor players and committee would have been really really up for that game with Mudgey in the oppo dug out.

Most people seem to think Mudge cares more about club than Scott. Scott does harbour ambitions, ones he won't achieve if you ask me, to manage at a decent level where as Mudge is happy in non league.

Considering Mudge has been disliked by various Windsor managers it suggests to me he's always really wanted the job! I think if the club really wants to be sustainable Scott has to go...Mudge will use locals more...after all his son is a windsor lad

Didcot FC Mudge Resigns At Didcot
Dave Mudge has resigned as First Team manager at Evo-Stik League Southern South & West Division Didcot Town.
Citing personal reasons for his decision, Mudge had been Didcot manager for almost a year after taking over from Francis Vines a few weeks into the 2011-12 season. He managed to steer Didcot away from the relegation zone, the club eventually finishing in 16th place, but his most notable achievement with the Railwaymen was taking them to the First Round proper of the FA Trophy. It was the furthest the club has ever gone in the competition and included memorable victories at Worthing and a 3-1 win at Conference South Bromley along the way.
Explaining his reasons for departure Mudge said: "Firstly I want to thank Didcot Town FC for the opportunity of being First Team manager since September 2011. But it is with great sadness that today I have reached a decision to resign from the post with immediate effect. The main reason is the impact it is having on my business. The journey from my home to training is a 110 mile round trip and that also has become a factor as is the time I'm away from my family. I have given a lot of thought to this in the last few days and is not a knee-jerk or rash decision. I hope everyone respects my reasons to leave and again I thank the club and everyone connected with it for the great time I've had. I wish Didcot Town a successful season and hope they go from strength to strength."
Didcot Town Chairman John Bailey: "I'd like to thank Dave for his efforts while at the football club; he came to us at a difficult time last season when we were rock bottom of the league. He turned things round with passion and in a hugely positive way and we are extremely grateful for his hard work and dedication over the past year. We wish him well in the future."
An interim management team of ex-Fulham, Swindon Town and Wimbledon star Gary Elkins alongside Richard Peirson and Ian Concannon have been asked to cover first team affairs while the club considers its' options for the remainder of the campaign.

Shame really because for the first time in 3 or 4 seasons they actually have a decent side down there and Mudge was doing a good job. Wouldn't be surprised if they gave it to Elkins, lives in Wallingford I think so easy enough and obviously got the pedigree.

B@ll@x - missed the Edit Window again

- a northern NL club that got a brief mention, I think, a bit further up this thread : Celtic Nation - formerly known as Gilford Park - thrown out of the FA Cup this eve - ineligible player.

Very impressive 6-0 win for Windsor against Croydon. Could and probably should have been a lot more. A really good way for me to sign off from the club. There will also be some very interesting developments over the next few days which could raise an eyebrow or two in the NL family.

To FoC, keep up the outstanding work. To everyone else who has contributed to this thread over the years, you have provided some excellent comment and discussion which emphasises just how good NL football and NL people are.

Ascot United 1 - 0 Slimbridge to advance in the FA Vase.

A result on the day helps to ease our fixture uncertainty with our rescheduled FA Cup Prelim at Bishops Cleeve on Tuesday with possible replay on Thursday and possible FA Cup First Qualifying on Friday or Sunday against Bracknell Town. Not even considering league fixtures at the moment.

Am hearing its the fella from youth team taking charge. Season(s) of struggle vs decades of self sustainbilty before/if income streams come on line is a no brainer. A local club with local players ( not in a league of gentleman way!) should see friends and family of players to turn up and drink themselves silly! :D

You mean Mick Woodham (ex Youth manager) presumably, not Gavin Mernagh?

Woodham was the guy I had in mind I have to say.

Yep thats the one...type his name into twitter and someone names him as new manager before news was public so seems whispers are true. Absolutely ecstatic that Scott is gone. Just need Stott to set up income streams and then be able to shut his wallet...i highly doubt it mind!

I've always thought there is too many teams paying out money to players with little or no chance of ever getting that money back. If Windsor really are just going to be spending what comes in it is a model that should be used and if needs be forced on every single non league side. Football league is forcing it on its clubs and should avoid seeing 2-3 clubs a year having to go into Admin. Football league clubs have a much much bigger safety net than non league so to not have a wage cap/spending cap its lunacy! Any benefactor that wishes to help clubs can do so by building up facilities or setting up genuine youth structures at clubs. Not only will it help Non league clubs survive but with better clubhouses etc they'd be able to make more money and with better youth set ups football as a whole improves and gives kids something to do!

Preaching over!

Went to Diddy v Wimborne, strange game where it should have been 0-5 at half time but Wimborne only led 1-0 to an absolute screamer which lodged in the Lawrie Stanchez. Second half Diddy were a lot better, chances galore for both teams, 1-1, 1-2 then 2-2 leaving a frantic last 10mins where both sides tried to win. Enjoyable game.
