BR2StubooBR2 For those that feel Feds will be shattered (possibly irreparably) by being dropped what do they think of:-
Lambert replacing Given after two games
Fergie replacing De Gea after two games
Di Canio replacing his keeper after 20 minutes
Will these keepers now be seeking counselling or will they work extremely hard in training to get their places back?
I would say Given has been below his usual high standard last season into this season. A much longer period than Feds.
De Gea being blamed because he couldn't get to the cross, resulting in a goal, is possibly a bit harsh on him, seing as his own defender blocked his way. I'm wary to criticise Sir Alex, given what he's achieved, but time will tell if he made the right decision there.
Di Canio - I'm not sure you could use that as an example of good management. He had other ways of dealing with the keeper, after the game and out of public sight for example. The keeper probably won't forgive him for shaming him like that and will no longer be any use to the team.
Don't put words into my mouth,I said nothing about good management.
My point is that these 3 managers have acted quickly after goalkeeping errors and by the time of the next round of Premier League fixtures QPR and possibly Liverpool will have done the same.
Will Brian do likewise?
I felt you were using the three dropped keepers as a justification for Feds to be dropped, and by definition dropping keepers does come under management, even though you didn't specifically mention it.
I don't think Brian will do likewise and I hope he does not. I think he will give Federici a couple more games to show an improvement. If not, he will make a change.
I think Snowball is right that the new ball could be a contributing factor.
