Believe it or not, I don't buy-in to the truth of a rumour because of what I read "on here", rather I'm inclined to believe it based on the news reports I read and the credibility of the sources. The RFC-Ayew link has been widely reported in the British and French media by papers I consider more reliable and credible (The Times here and L'Equipe in France) than say The Sun or a random twitter account. So no, it's not "a bit like we 'missed out' on Messi, Ronaldo, Hazard etc", but nice try.

Mini-Franchise 2 is at school with the son of a Times sports reporter. We've talked about how they get the start of a story and they trawl all the twitter/forums and follow up from there.
