Royal Ginger After a good spell at Leeds he was pretty hopeless at Ipswich. Support Feds or not, McCarthy is not the magic miracle fix.
So what does that make the player who has cost us 3pts in 2 games?

RoyalX Just to throw something else into the mix, the new ball is also being used in La Liga and Serie A.
My mate who was watching the Bologna - AC Milan game said that one of the Milan goals was a goalkeeping howler...

Idealsandman Casillas is struggling with the flight of the ball from set pieces.
he's always been overrated imho.
(Yes, he's good, but he's not as good as people make out. Benefits of playing for a good team.)

Seem to remember Casillas making the most saves in La Liga one year, despite "playing for a good team"...

USA_Loyal_Royal We need to show feds our support now more than ever. If we keep shouting to get rid of him it will destroy what little confidence he has left. If 4,5,6 games down the road he is still making these blunders then it might be time to think about putting mccarthy in. But for now get off his back and show him some loyalty. After all we wouldn't be in the premier league without him!

Davezk I don't understand the hype behind McCarthy. He didn't exactly set the world alight at Ipswich or Leeds.

Alexander LitvinenkoDavezk I don't understand the hype behind McCarthy.
He is a far, far better keeper so young than Feds was at the same age. he's as good a shot-stopper but his judgement and command of his box is, to me, far better. (Lest we forget, 4-5 years ago, when Federici was about the same age as McC is now, he had some calamitous games - e.g. away at WBA, home to Man Utd in the Cup, etc)
That suggests to me that if he gets the same games and experience that Feds gets (which he hasn't so far) that he can become much better than Feds.
Put another way, I don't think Federici will ever get better than he was last season. I think McCarthy has the potential to get much, much better than Federici will ever be. He's not there now, but he'll only get there if he plays and gets the chance to gain experience.

Bizarre argument.
at this moment the experienced Federici looks more error prone than the inexperienced McCarthy

On that basis no player will ever make a debut unless there is absolutely no-one available who has played some games.

Davezk No room for error at this level, although admittedly Federici has made enough for a whole season already.
