Worst matchday experience?

Late1982 or early 1983, I think, as that's when I was living just round the corner. Was held up for ages as the police escorted a phalanx of Cardiff supporters from the station to Finchampstead Road (RIP!)

I wouldn't call it a "bad matchday experience" but I remember that Wolves Play-Off Semi Final 2nd leg in 2003. Possibly the most my stomach sank when a goal went in, ever.

Pretty terrible matchday experience having Wolves fans chucking all manor of objects down onto the Reading fans, also remember large groups of them being overly aggro for no apparent reason. Not liked Wolves since that day really

I wouldn't call it a "bad matchday experience" but I remember that Wolves Play-Off Semi Final 2nd leg in 2003. Possibly the most my stomach sank when a goal went in, ever.

Pretty terrible matchday experience having Wolves fans chucking all manor of objects down onto the Reading fans, also remember large groups of them being overly aggro for no apparent reason. Not liked Wolves since that day really

Gillingham away in about 2005? It was on New Year's Day and I was living in Canterbury at the time, so it was my most local game. Was feeling a little worse for wear, but dragged myself to the train station, only to miss the train. Walked 30 minutes back to my house, where one of my mates decided at 2.30pm we could probably just about make kick off if we drove, so we bombed along the M2 at about a ton. Made it to the ground at about 3.15 and then stood in the freezing sleet, rain and snow to watch us draw 0-0. Legitimate goal disallowed in the final minute. Highlight was watching a carrier bag get blown around the penalty area, big cheers went the wind blew the bag in the goal.

And Cardiff Play-Off Final is up there. Absolutely gutted to lose that one. Felt like we would be stuck in the lower leagues for the rest of time. No-one said a word in the car all the way home, until our driver turned off at J13 for Newbury (where we lived) and then straight back onto the M4 and we had to continue all the way to Reading. I think I may have uttered the words "you oxf*rd oxf*rd" and then we returned to silence.

Glen Little header wasn't it. Wasn't there a top chorus of 'Speccy's pulled a minger'too....?

FA Cup away to York - I fainted before kick off and missed the whole game whilst being tended by St John's Ambulance - Schards was eager to watch the game so kept "popping out to have a look" - funnily enough he didn't "pop out "very often once they'd scored.

The usual South Bank fiascos of Millwall/Cardiff/Pompey/You name them who always managed to break down the fence and get into the South Bank, and we always stood up that end so inevitably had to try and avoid getting smashed by an oncoming away supporter.

A Birmingham away game where we lost 6-0 I think, in the pouring rain and I shouted abuse at Nicky Platnauer all game because he was just useless.

I was outside the stadium, and got nicked by the police for having a slash behind a bush across the road, near the railway line. I ended up being taken off to the cells, only getting out in time to see the last 20 minutes. I saw three goals in that time, but it didn't really make it ok. If I'd had my passport on me I could have just paid a 40 euro fine on the spot. As it was it cost me 100 euro in fines instead.

They actually had a tv set up across from the cells, so people could watch the match, but in some ways, that made it worse.

No, not normally

Normally the southbank "hards" dissolved into the Tilehurst Road stand at the first sign of trouble.

They quite enjoyed having the occasional ruck amongst themselves tho'

1987 away at Walsall, top of the league, beaten 6-0, freezing cold and even my pie was frozen in the middle

That's mine too (although I thought it was 85), had to endure the team getting stuffed 6-0, then got a beating all of my own when I got jump by 6 yoofs outside the ground afterwards and to top that off when I walked up to a policeman to report the incident his bloody dog started trying to have a go at me and the copper blamed that on me for getting too close!!!!

A close second to this is Birmingham away last game of the season (although don't remember which exactly). They needed to win to go up but we score to go 1-0 up with 5 mins left and they go ape, invading the pitch trying to get the game called off (we presumed as they weren't too bothered about us at first). We then spent a few anxious minutes "negotiating" with the coppers on the gate trying to get them to let us out whilst the Brum fans were still busy on the pitch rather than us waiting until they'd had enough of attcking their own ground and could leave to get in position to have a go at us

Went for a beer in the town before the game. It was last time I ever went into a packed out pub in which there were absolutely no female customers. The North. We were crap that day. I guess we were 10 points clear at the top so we could afford it.

Was '81. Remember it well. Day of sporadic violence all day in the town. Remember the female PC getting injured when some fencing came down when the Cardiff mob started acting up. Day ended quite violently for them as every associated 'Nam lad stopped the Cardiff convoy outside the Hope and Anchor and pelted the visiting scumbags with a sustained barrage of stones, bricks and coins. George Torrance scored for the Town. Same day that the Royals lost 2-1 at home to Bishops Stortford, IIRC.
