The sinking of the Belgrano was an act of the highest morality.

Margaret Thatcher was and is a wonderful person.

The Sun Newspaper is a pile of dog sh!t and anyone who argues based on its "factual" contents is a total moron

Davezk
The sun does print a lot of rubbish, but you can't assume everything is exaggerated. On the other hand, we can't assume it is true either. He denies it but he would regardless so that doesn't mean anything.

I PRESUME nothing. I have ZERO evidence (like everyone else in this thread)

What I DO know is the Sun is a pile of dog-sh!t, so why are we arguing over stuff they say?

It's unbelievably stupid.

What we DO know is young lads, most of them, occasionally get drunk.

What we do know is when drunk, we are occasionally silly

The young man concerned has not been accused of any violence, has not been accused of a sexual assault, has not been accused of drunk-driving, has not been accused of taking drugs other than alcohol, which is legal.

He was not charged with exposing himself. His fine was tiny (if the reported fine is true) and the man himself says he went down an alleyway to take a leak.

We have ZERO actual evidence to the contrary, (zero evidence at all, in fact) yet the saints and hypocrites on this list continue to argue "the facts" based on scurrilous reporting from a scurrilous newspaper.

WTF are you on about? :|

Normal behaviour = No media stories about behaviour

You REALLY think that? In what world?

I had "reported" an interview with me on the Southampton to London train on the anniversary of the Clapham Crash.

Many of the regular commuters, the gang that frequented the buffet, decided to have a breakfast party in memory of the dead,
mostly people they'd known personally.

The press (incl The Sun) decided to report it in an unpleasant way... "Quails eggs" etc and I was reported, word-for-word.

The trouble was, I didn't go to London that day, not at all, and the paper was forced to print a retraction.

They lie, they cheat, they tap phones, they exaggerate. And the sheep respond, like the sheep in this thread

Actually agree with Snowball about The Sun newspaper being dog s**t and the British press being terrible liars and exaggerators. Not to mention the fact they often spin things in a negative light and only show us the facts (sometimes not even facts) that support their argument. It appears there's something about seeing something in print that often makes people (including me) believe it. We definitelly all need to be vigilant about not believing what's in the press. They are scandalous!

It is being reported that Morrison was on the phone at the time, so The Sun will have his conversation recorded from the event.

Fact he was asked to leave a club/ but no mention of particularly bad behaviour

Fact he had a pee, given a fixed penalty for urinating in public/ no arrest for indecent exposure

The Sun can feck right off and do one.

If the Sun had made it all up and bigged it up way out of proportion then you can bet the club's media department would have printed a very, very quick statement condemning the piece and showing it's support for Morrison... something that they haven't done.

Doesn't necessarily mean that he did exactly what was stated in the Sun's story but I find it hard to believe the same media department that got a fans forum summary taken down from a message board wouldn't have demanded equal retractions from The Sun.

Whatever the exact ins and outs, he got drunk and put himself in a position to cause embarrassment to the club and himself.

Nobody is perfect, the majority of posters here have probably embarrassed themselves or done things they've regretted but this is a young Premier League Footballer who should be doing everything possible to win a place in the team and this is hardly the greatest way to 'stake your claim'. Standard laddish behaviour but then someone in his privileged position should just be showing a bit more discipline and a touch more common sense.

Still don't really understand why. He's a young man, doing what all young men have done on a night out. He just got caught out. I don't care if he earns more than most, he's still entitled to enjoy himself every now and again.

This reads like certain comments after Prince Harry's mishap in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago. He's young, he will make mistakes, but he will live and learn. He certainly doesn't deserve to be chucked out of the club for something as minor as this.

Despite the obscene wages and being paid to maintain a professional lifestyle, they're also human. Just because they're footballers they aren't banned from drinking. If the club wanted to put a stop to that they could do, but it'd probably kill a lot of the goodwill between the club and the players.

I'm not bothered by the players having one too many occasionally, and from what Morrison was saying on twitter it does look more like he was just going for a piss down an alley when a cop had him for it.

Manset could potentially have killed someone (although it never sounded like he was 'out of control'?) whereas Morrison at worst might have drowned a slug.

Non-story unless it starts happening regularly. We move on.

Fair points Wiz and Maff but if it was something deemed socially acceptable he wouldn't have been arrested would he?

Obviously a certain amount of bad luck involved to be nicked when you see all sorts of worse things go unpunished every Friday/Saturday night but he must have been doing something more than just having a cheeky slash if he was held overnight? We won't know the full story either way though and it doesn't really matter.

Don't think anyone except Ideal is suggesting he be thrown out for it, most have just said he needs to show a bit more common sense in the future. Like I said, when you're a young player trying to prove you've got the maturity for the Premier League you're not doing yourself any favours getting caught out like that.

Like Maff says, move along, lesson learned.

ZacNaloen Where have we got the idea he was kept over night?

Apologies thought I'd read it in the original article but on a re-read tis not the case.

In saying that I don't think the police usually let smashed people out that night do they if they've been arrested and fined?

He wasn't arrested as far as I can tell, he's got a fixed penalty fine.

the headline in the story is 'Premier League star held for pee at the Ritz' whether that means held overnight or just a catchy headline I don't know. As for being arrested again it's unclear...

“Some police officers spotted him and nicked him but he still didn’t seem to realise what he’d done.”

As Snowball said I don't know if it's a case of the Sun embellishing/sensationalising things but ho hum. Either way it's not a massive deal, just a bit silly.

Only thing I'll add to this is that it's not the first time Morrison has been out and about blitzed. There was a particular occasion I've heard about in Huddersfield which some fans were at/around where he was was stumbling around in a doorway, unable to stand......
