Yep and Le Fondre will score a hatrick in the world cup final with McCarthy keeping a clean sheet...

Some of us Reading fans are overly biast towards the ability of the players.

Hoop Blah You're not backtracking there are you snowball?

I'm pretty sure what you said was that McCarthy would be Englands number 1 keeper at some point, not just 'play for'. I rate him pretty highly but I think that's a very bold and, to be honest, daft prediction.

Well you are wrong.

(a) I'm not back-tracking over my opinion of Feds or McCarthy

(b) I have NEVER said I thought McCarthy would be England's Number 1 goalie. NEVER. All I have ever said is I think he'll play for England (meaning the senior team.)

There's your chance. Go find me saying he'd be Number 1.

http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=105667&p=2904202&hilit=+mccarthy+england#p2904202

"I like Feds and he may one day be Australia's first keeper. McCarthy will be England's first keeper."

Will that do?

No? How about:

First big moment, a seriously good save from McCarthy when it was 0-0. He will be a star for England but will probably leave in the summer, or

Will be England's senior keeper eventually.

Yup, just checked. I didn't say he'd be No 1

Oh dear.

Word of friendly advice. After last season's relative debacle, people are engaging with you more readily now. Don't ruin it!

And you wonder why I asked for clarification on one of your predictions the other day.....

What did you mean by Englands first keeper or senior keeper then Snowball?

Just saying, I didn't say he'd be Number 1. Just being exact.

You think, knowing this place, I imagined nobody would be such a loser as not to trawl HNA for evidence?

But to return to the point at hand. I was making the point that I wasn't pro-Feds at McCarthy's expense
but NEVERTHELESS think the idea of dropping Feds after three games was ludicrous.

Was trying to make the point that even though I am/have been a McCarthy fan doesn't mean I kneejerk and say drop Feds.

Joe Hart is huge, an exceptional keeper and could be THE England keeper for 15 years, barring serious long-term injury. That was
the case back when Alex McCarthy started to get regular games. Not much has changed.

It will be quite remarkable if Alex improves to the point of ousting Hart.

Of course, at some point Hart may suffer serious injury, or just possibly loss of form and then others will get the chance.

Second, as long as McCarthy is a Reading player it will be harder to make the England team. But I DO believe he WILL play for England's full team.

For him to become the first-choice, regularly-chosen England keeper will involve other players being injured or horribly off-form

Make sure you get the answer in triplicate, signed whilst reciting an oath of honesty with the left hand on the bible and witnessed by at least three independent sources of unimpeachable repute or it's worthless.

As evidenced when he played for us in the fa cup against city he had some world class reflex saves. If he started for us regularly he could become a top English keeper. But with any reading player they will probably be second or third choice for the spot. At least until we establish ourselves as a top to midtable side.

My unreserved apologies to cumonurz. My reply was unwarranted.

Apologies to Hoop, also.

I couldn't really care less, but you should probably apologise to yourself making a grown man of advancing years look so infantile and petty.....again.

I would love to see that :D hahahahaa

Someone on Reading FC facebook page is moaning as he can't see why Le Fondre hasn't been called up to the England squad.

Disbelief at some fans.
