Whilst Rother is awaiting for the official party line i'd broadly agree. Good job Windsor didn't go up so it didn't really cost anyone.

I speak for no-one but myself.

The idea that spending hundreds of hours unpaid and investing one's own money in a what is essentially a community venture without ever intending to get it back after Yr 1 launch is in some way cheating... is a novel, and definitely amusing take on it.

Well done AP!!

Without it Windsor would be crap-average, with it (which the club can't afford otherwise they wouldn't have to get rid of the whole squad) they would be top of the league. Do you not see how this could be considered unfair or even cheating when other clubs play by the rules?

There is nothing long term about it, there is no self sustainability, it's lets have a good team for a year then you're on your own. How does this benefit anyone to be honest. won't benefit Windsor in the long run, they'd possibly get a hollow promotion and then be utterly screwed the next year. Well done.

Lovely stuff at York Road Saturday. Safe to say I haven't been to a game I've paid admission to and seen a side score 8 (EIGHT) before.

Truro gave up after the third goal went in. Only had the three subs and Lee Hodges had to play at centre back.

Ben Harris got sent off for handling on the line but scored 2 cracking goals. Real shame as he looked like he could score every time he picked the ball up. A real star in the making. Unfortunately I have the feeling he's going to be way too good for this league in due course. The improvement he's made in the last year is amazing and he gets better with every game.

As I predicted a right spanking but considering they haven't played together before there were some promising signs in the early stages before Harris went off. Defence and keeper at sixes and sevens not so good though.

That's the point isn't it Rother. Barely one week together so the players will have a steep learning curve. Good crowd of 216 which is by far the highest league attendance of the season at SM. Having got the first one out of the way we can all move forward together which can only be a good thing.

Royal With Cheese or no missus at all.

...sorry to disillusion you - thick though the layers of my anorak may be - I am (happily - most of the time; well some of the time; well ...... 8) ) married with three offspring.

... maybe stayed that way cos she has a hobby which is one step nearer to Train Spotting than NL Football - i.e Bellringing. :D

We live together in blissful disharmony and pursue our repsective interests by negotiation - the kids sort of go both ways  ... doesn't sound right that?

Youngest (9) actually is keen and (just about) good enough to actually play football at under 10s level.

Middle one (13) likes coming to football with her Dad (but not with her brothers unless she has to) and usually only when there's decent food on offer.
.... So she'd have been real miffed that Scotty's Tea bar was shut (again?) tonight.

Eldest (15) is slipping away from me into the darkness though :| - he is regarded as the bright young thing locally of Campanology :? and spends far more time doing that than footy - though he did come to Stag Meadow tonight - and very pleased he was too, as he's a real goal-junkie.

They share 2 STs between them at the MadStad - eldest one has been away a lot recently so we've not had to make a difficult decision as to who misses out - not that there have been many games as such yet!

PS Nice big crowd @ Windsor tonight too - actually queued to get in - but minor downside meant they'd ran out of progs. Didn't know about the relative strength of the home side until reading about it afterwards.
Think once Egham (The Sarnies :P ) got a sniff of Windsor's frailties they really went for it and looked pretty ruthless - especially down the right - how good was that No 2 - possibly overshadowed on the night by the No 7 in front of him?

With Windsor bringing in over a grand a game it does make me wonder where that money is going. Is Mr Stott just getting his money back, who can blame him for that, or is it going towards improving ground?

is there a site showing non-league games by date and area? I'm up in the Midlands tomorrow and fancy taking in a local game.

See if you can still get hold of a copy of the Non League Paper. They show hundreds of fixtures in there.

I'd 8-2 to be a Windsor fan these days

Budget cut less than a month into the season and so you're left with a bunch of players who ship EIGHT goals. ShambLOLes.

Rother, TB - why not head a few miles down the road to watch a better standard of football for only a few quid more at properly historic old ground right by the railway station and a goalkick away from two pubs and give a properly, 'well-run club' your cash 8)

Arf!

(TB was happy to do Romford to Windsor but might find getting to York Lane a bit too much of a challenge right now...)

... no sure with it being an International MW, there are all that many league games scheduled anywhere in the NL Pyramid -

'locally' eg round here it seems to be designated a Cup week - so I had a very quick look up round the Midlands Combination, the Central Midlands and the West Midlands leagues and there's sweet FA on :? - ie the only games I could find on tomorrow @ Dudley, AFC Mansfield, Shifnal, Blackstones (Stamford), Huntingdon (hardly Midlands);

.. there are FA Cup replays @:
Blaby & Whetstone (just south of Leicester) v Eastwood.
Carlton (E suburb of Nottingham) v Rainworth

I couldn't have put it better myself  Even if I could, why would I want to drink in a pub before a game at York Rd when real ale is available match days in the bar at Stag Meadow? Plus... we have Scotty The Stag 8)

And how then does the club cover its operating costs? There is a large amount of money going out before a ball is even kicked. I actually have a good idea how much it does cost which is why removing the playing budget was such an essential move.

If that IS the case Windsor have alot more fans than many sides in league. How on earth do they survive on a handful of fans?
