TheSiege Window closed but - Is there anyone we could bring in on loan? Forget Owen etc. Does anyone know of good players of Prem standard, who might add to our squad?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Premier League teams were excluded from bringing in players on loan afterwards. Isn't it a Football League thing?

In which case, Owen is the best we can do unfortunately.

I tried to spare TheSieve from the embarrassment, but you seem to have already quoted him. Oh well.

Attacking Midfielders

Anyone think we'll go for an AM in january? McD seems to be using Guthrie, playing just behind Pog... and Guthrie by all accounts isn't an attacking midfielder.
I remember an old thread about Misimovic and I think we could incorporate a proper AM into the squad, like done with Gylfi.

Ideal I'd be much more concerned with getting a left back.

Indeed, especially with how shit Harte has been so far

I can see in January us looking at the left back, left wing [backup], central attacking midfielder and striker positions, with maybe one or two coming in. Unless we're doing a Derby there won't be any wholesale changes.

Generally squad depth seems ok to me, but looking at teams in / around us it does feel like we're generally lacking. First team we're pretty decent but with a couple of injuries cover wise I'd have the biggest concerns if we lost Two CBs, would Morrison do a job? If we lost Guthrie, there isn't a natural player like him around, if we lost Jobi, sorry but HRK just isn't good enough yet, and possibly in the striking positions, although 4-4-2 I'm v. happy with Pog/Roberts with Hunt as 3rd choice and Alfie off the bench. 4-5-1 we're more than covered up front. If we get down to Alfie starting then we're getting desperate.

No back-up striker better than Morrison is going to sign with the chances of getting on the field slim to none.

Do you mean striker or defender? Applies on both counts [Morrison/Hunt], unless we are pushing others down the pecking order.

Which then asks whether there are other players that can play in other areas and adequately fill in, like when Cisse had his blinder at CB at Man U. Who else can cover CB as a 4th; Ledge? Harte? Bryn? and upfront HRK? McCleary? Utilising what we have is less likely to unbalance the squad....

I meant defender (Twas late). I think utilizing the squad is more like it, but the chances of needing it are slim. We've got quality players and we have backups. Backups are not supposed to be as good as the starting 11, that's why they're backups. Brian is clearly happy with his 1st squad, and decent players won't want to sign as a back-up. Because of that Hunt (who i believe has a major role to play this season)/Morrison are as good as we're going to get as long as we can't promise starts.

Every position has cover, and if we're desperate players will move around in places we haven't considered. EG. I recon Tabb wouldn't make an awful emergency LB, but i doubt we'll be in a position to find out.
