LJ Would be nice if his kicks had made it past the halfway line or stayed on the pitch more often.

Maybe he should throw it out more. Although it's probably best that he doesnt throw it straight to the opposition like he did today.

Maybe he should also jump over the ball instead of saving it then like Feds also

Maybe he should learn to keep clean sheets like Feds did 20 times last season.

Two good saves first half but I would bring Federici back in when fit. Didn't do enough today to justify keeping the shirt. Not much fault for any of the goals but looked nervy and his kicking was really bad

Lucky it wasn't more though. At least his mistake didn't cost a goal but that doesn't mean it is necessarily better or acceptable. When do keepers ever get robbed of the ball?

This. Until he sustains a great performance over many games you can't be sure he's a better option than Feds.

McCarthy made two good saves, but his poor touch nearly cost us a goal. Not sure you can say he is better than Federici based on that performance. Pure luck Spurs didn't score at least two more.

Incredible change of attitude towards our keeper's position now it's McCarthy with the shirt. What about his confidence?

Too early to say on just one game.

Made a couple of decent saves, and a couple of blunders that we got away with, but can't really be faulted for any of the goals.

If true, and he was fit, then he's a total cock.

I doubt it's true though.

Federici on his Instagram account earlier insisted that he isn't injured at all.....in direct contradiction of what his manager told the fans via BBC Radio Berkshire after the game.

Which one is the liar?

I hope those crying out for Fed's head in favour of their hero McCarthy were pleased with the latter's error riddled performance today. But for the timely & critical intervention of defenders to save his embarrassment, his errors would have cost us at least two goals today.

I'm sure that some will be quick to highlight his double save early on, but the second part of that save was only necessary because he committed the keeper's cardinal sin by parrying out in front of himself, right into the centre of the high risk zone, something he did on more than one occasion.

Added to that his distribution throughout was abysmal.

He is not a bad keeper and will develop into an extremely good one. However, today he did not play well and IMO is not yet ready to take over from Fed. That having been said, short of playing bench warmer Taylor, we now have no option as Feds has finally been told by Luke Anthony that he has to stop playing for the time being and get his knee injury properly sorted.

So, here's hoping today was first day nerves and McCarthy justifies the faith of his supporters against WBA.

The story from BMc is that Federici has a nagging injury and they're giving him time for that to clear up. I understood it - although he didn't directly confirm it - that he could have played if required but they'd rather let it clear up to avoid long-term damage, on the phyiso's advice - which also means he definitely won't play at WBA.

Personally, I don't believe it for a second - I think this was a dropping, plain and simple, and seems Feds isn't to happy about it :

Federici to an extent. According to the Bald One, Feds knows he has an injury but felt he was still capable of playing today. Luke Anthony, however, said that he shouldn't be allowed to.

No, he prefers to play a one yard pass to Defoe or parry the ball straight out in front of himself, rather than out to the side.
