Maybe he should also jump over the ball instead of saving it then like Feds also
No, he prefers to play a one yard pass to Defoe or parry the ball straight out in front of himself, rather than out to the side.
Yeah ok he did but did he cost us any goals ?

Alexander Litvinenko The story from BMc is that Federici has a nagging injury and they're giving him time for that to clear up. I understood it - although he didn't directly confirm it - that he could have played if required but they'd rather let it clear up to avoid long-term damage, on the phyiso's advice - which also means he definitely won't play at WBA.

Personally, I don't believe it for a second - I think this was a dropping, plain and simple, and seems Feds isn't to happy about it :

Is that an equivalent of twitter?

If those are Feds words things won't be good in the Reading camp!!

Pretty sure he was just trying to boost Fed's confidence after the stupid hounding he's had from some forgetful Reading fans.

Fat Feddy threw his toys out of the pram after hearing he wasn't playing at the finish of Fridays training session. It's true that he refused to go on the bench. Poor form, poor attitude. Brian wouldn't have dropped him without good reason. Im feel for him but if he's not big enough to accept the decision and sit on the bench for the good of the team then he can fukk right off, like he wanted to a season ago.

I doubt it

If he wasn't injured why did he pull out of the Oz squad?!

He's definitely injured.

Just how much, and whether it actually stops him playing or is just a convenient excuse to make changes is what's uncertain.

I believe Alex should stay in goal for the WBA game. He got lucky when he didn't deal with the back pass, he made some good saves and his distribution wasn't great today, but Feds isn't always great when distributing either. One way or another the shirt is now McCarthy's to lose.

McCarthy's performance smacked of a player who simply isn't ready to feature at this high a level of competition.

His double save at the start was very good but he's critically lacking in experience. His communication was non existent, his kicking wasn't there and he can't command his area. One for the future yes but nowhere near ready to be the first team keeper for a premiership team. This is a season where a good keeper can keep you in the league - see Al Habsi at Wigan as a prime example of that.

If we're worried about McCarthy as well now does Andersen become an option?

Laughable. Feds treated like a God, McCarthy not given a second chance in some quarters.

He was exceptionally lucky and has to be extremely grateful to his defenders for saving him from costing us a couple of goals.

As mentioned previously, the second part of that save was only necessary because he parried the first shot out in front of him and right out into the centre of a keeper's 'no go zone' instead of out to the side.

Made a mistake for Pompey that almost led to a goal last week, not good enough. It's Taylor or bust.

I wouldn't want taylor anywhere near the starting eleven, he doesn't seem interested in playing and seems happy to sit on the bench like he has done all his career.

You mean the sharp reaction save he made to keep the ball out of the net? He did 90% of it right.

Jesus christ, there's some utter twats on here.

Great, so we've gone from having one of the best GKing departments in the country to this within a couple of months

Exactly, this thread should be merged with the scapegoat thread.

We should tally up the ratio of negative to positive posts which each user makes and put it in a pye chart next to their name, to give us an idea of who we're dealing with. Get Snowball on it! :)

Looking in the mirror are you?

For f*cks sake, you can't get away with 90% right as a keeper in the PL! It wasn't that much of a 'sharp reaction' save and I reckon most GK coaches would knock off far more than 10% for parrying the ball back into that area.
