Still doesn't deal with the fact that you're asking a person to make a split second decision on something that if he blinks at the wrong time he's got no chance of spotting correctly. His brain will just be showing him what he expects to see anyway.

Until we get efficient goaline tech, it's better to have another official pair of eyes on the event though.
