Royal Dee can some one please tell Federici and co that he would be nothing if it weren't for Reading. Loyalty? we owe him nothing.

And can they please also tell him that no other team above league one would be interested in signing him at the moment if we transfer listed him, so he can either apologize to the manager or go fc uk himself!

Well she was absolutely spot on wasn't she! Absolutely no loyalty and supporters so blind/forgetful. We owe him nothing? Bet you would struggle to find any player at the club last season who would say that. There have been plenty of PL keepers making gaffs this season, have they all been dropped?

Absolute crap to suggest Feds has turned into a bad keeper over night. There will be plenty of decent clubs happy to sign him. And meantime the 'Boy Wonder' displayed what with his performance on Sunday? To think Feds used to get criticised for his distribution! McCarthy may or may not turn into a class keeper (to date he is still a long way behind Feds in having proven himself) but more displays like Sunday and we will be deep in the shyte.

Better hope Taylor hasn't forgotten how to play in a real game.

And why shouldn't his girlfriend express her views? She is not employed by the club. If the club really are worried about her presence on Twitter then they really suffer from an insecurity complex. Their own PR machine is far more powerful and should be more than capable of countering this (if they even feel it is worthwhile doing so).

Perhaps Feds should also get in trouble because some supporters are speaking out in his defence?!

And I take it Gibbs will be in charge next Saturday because Brian screwed up so badly with his tactics/team selection on Sunday. Maybe the club will come out and say that Brian has got the 'flu and wasn't fit enough to travel. Afterall we owe him nothing. He would still be at Slough's level if it wasn't for RFC giving him the opportunity!

What did Feds say on Instagram?

I'm not sure why everyone is getting so worked up about what his girlfriend says.... Yeah, it's something that's easy to disagree with, but she's not him, and I would guess he doesn't vet everything she says.

RoyallyFcuked What a joke. One thing is for sure, our club wont tolerate that. Federici needs to man up and accept the decision, he has clearly been dropped for a good reason. Why not give McCarthy a chance, he has proved he is at Feds level, if not better. I remember when he got a run in the team when we went on the first winning streak (2010-11 season) he was superb. He was shakey against Spurs for obvious reasons, he needs a few games. He was very close to keeping out Defoe's opener as well. If this is the last we see of Federici at Reading then McCarthy should be the only choice we have. I dont ever want to see Stuart "Ive sat on the bench for most of my career and i'm happy to keep doing so" Taylor in a Reading shirt.

He hasn't proven he's at Feds level at all, how many Championship medals has he won? And don't say last season because they might as well have give the fans a medal because we had more involvement than McCarthy (well maybe not the west stand). McCarthy has had 14 appearances in a Reading shirt that does not prove he is at Federici's level at all. When he got a run in the team he conceded 3 at Palace, 3 at Forest he also conceded 2 against a very poor Middlesborough side and that's not even mentioning the 3 he conceded against a Sheffield United team that were relegated the following week.

Utter Crap

Federici is employed, at a huge salary, by the club to do what the club sees fit. McDermott is the manager and if he thinks it's in the club's interests that Mcarthy plays ahead of Federici then he should man up and accept the decision, however much it might piss him off.

He needs to distance himself from these comments, assuming he doesn't agree, and apologise rapidly or he will permanently lose the support and respect of a large percentage of the fans. If, and I've no idea if this is the case, he refused to be on the bench, he should have his contract terminated.

Footballer who spent the summer of 2011 unsuccessfully touting himself to Premier League clubs now (indirectly) playing the "loyalty" card.

Irony overload!

Hopefully BMD will knock his keepers heads together and tell them to concentrate on fighting for the jersey!

Quote from Get Reading

And the young England hopeful has been told he will keep his place for the time being with Federici supposedly ruled out with a knee problem, despite declaring himself fit.

McCarthy explained: "I went to training on Saturday and the gaffer pulled me aside and said I would be playing.

'He told me it was a tactical (decision). He said he didn't want me to feel that he was just pulling (Federici) out because he was injured, because obviously that would have an influence on the rest of the boys in the team.

Pretty much had it now with Federici (regardless of how good/bad he is).

First the shameful "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come and get me plea" on SSN and now this petulant sulking.

Clear off Federici.

This. The only reason they want McCarthy in is because he was in the Academy. Maybe we didn't fill our homegrown quota this week. Brian should have shown loyalty to Feds and given him a chance to restart his season rather than dropping him and therefore showing a lack of respect and loyalty to a keeper who helped us to the league title last year.

You can only really assume that she's forming her opinion on the reaction of Federici to the news and what he's said to her.

If he'd gone home and was big enough to accept the decision and calm about it then she wouldn't be spouting off would she? He should also really be making sure those he lets off steam to know that they shouldn't be making such public statements that will ultimately make his position weaker and makes them all look like spoilt brats (it seems he doesn't get this side of it from his own public comments though!).

+1,000,000 to that.

The saddest thing about this is that it blows the "one team, we're all together, great spirit, team comes first" right out of the water.

Last time we were in teh Premier league that all fell apart in the January of the second season. This time around it's not even lasted a month.

McDermott should have just said I've left him out because I felt it was for the good of the team at the minute, trying to hide it behind an injury which clearly there isn't or not a sufficient one to stop him from playing just muddies the waters and you get all this.

Federici is an unprofessional dickhead, that's all that's come out of this and there isn't much surprise in that. As we all know he tried desperately to engineer a move out a couple of years ago with no takers. He was absolutely nothing when he walked in the door and under the guidance of a couple of managers, Bibbo, Hahnemann as well as the unconditional support from McCarthy, Andersen and others while he was playing made him a decent number 1 goalkeeper. Did McCarthy who had less reason to be replaced by Federici last time throw his toys out of the pram? Or did Marcus when he wasn't put immediately back in a few years ago, or how about any of Federici's NUMEROUS clangers? He had again full support from the management. The first time something hasn't gone his way (other than trying to leave) and he reacts like a complete bellmont. Like I said IF it's true that he refused to be sub then it's a minimum of a massive fine and stay away until a full and honest apology is done. Even though Di Canio is a bellend his course of action after his keeper reacted badly was the right one, should be the same here.

Are we saying that it's wrong for someone to show dissent about their work situation in their own home? And that whenever you say something to your girlfriend/ flatmate/ dog that you need to specify that it's not for public consumption? She may have been silly, but that's a bit harsh on Feds.

Nope, but you'd hope that his girlfriend would have the common sense to realise that springing to his defence on a public forum was not only bound to be found out but was also bound to cause him far more grief than keeping schtum and playing the party line would.

And also that Twitter enables dressing-room discontent to be made public far, far more easily than it used to - and the club's carefully cultivated image of peace, harmony and togetherness is now in sever danger of being seen as a sham.
