My wife did some shopping at Sainsbury's at Cobham on Friday evening, and in the car-park saw none other than John Terry.

She went over and wished him luck for the new season; she said he looked quite vulnerable and seemed relieved that she wasn't going to have a verbal go at him, and that he came over as a genuine, nice bloke as he thanked her for her best wishes.

I thought I'd mention it......

I went through ALL of the obvious jokes ("was he parked in a disabled bay? Did he give you his phone number? etc etc etc)

;-)

Retires from international football. "I feel The FA, have made my position with the national team untenable."

Guessing he knows The FA's punishment.

He's done the right thing IMO.

Cleared in the Courts, but the FA think they know better.

It's a different charge.

By the way, does this mean Wayne Bridge is available for England now?

It doesn't matter. Courts cleared him of any wrong doing - not sufficient evidence. FA still want to punish him. Hence why he's said his position at International level in untenable.

I thi the FA want to follow their due process, which is independent of the courts, and Terry should respect that.

:o oxf*rd me, I actually agree with you! Our courts who are professionals at their job, have cleared him. The FA should respect the courts know better than they do about these things and drop it IMHO.

Terry is not being tried by the FA of the crimes he has been cleared of in court.

Different processes require different levels of evidence.

RattLOLed, obviously.

"I feel the FA, in pursuing charges against me where I have already been cleared in a court of law, have made my position with the national team untenable," he said in a statement.

Then this bit is a joke

But the FA, whose charge includes an alleged "reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Ferdinand", only has to prove its case "on the balance of probabilities".

Should be the end of it. Cleared and that's it.

People are saying he should get an 8 game bad like Suarez. However, Suarez admitted to using racist language.

I need to know more about this but I am skeptical about that at the moment.

I also don't agree with the different legal process/different burden of proof argument as to my mind a judgement in the courts is supreme over a judgement by the FA. If they are trying him for the same thing I feel the FA are disrespecting the courts by going ahead with this.
