Well in general terms, you can bring the game of football into disrepute (in whatever way) without committing crime. Utterly different processes.

Just imagine if he was able to lead England to the Euros.. with Cappello at the helm.. England could have won it.

Unpleasant & delusional as a man. Injury prone, ageing cart horse as a player.

Why would anyone care?

No Fixed Abode "I feel the FA, in pursuing charges against me where I have already been cleared in a court of law, have made my position with the national team untenable," he said in a statement.

Then this bit is a joke

But the FA, whose charge includes an alleged "reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Ferdinand", only has to prove its case "on the balance of probabilities".

Should be the end of it. Cleared and that's it.

People are saying he should get an 8 game bad like Suarez. However, Suarez admitted to using racist language.

Two things :

First, he wasn't 'cleared' as you put it. The judges comments were very specific that there was insufficient evidence that the words used consistuted racial abuse.
Second, given the fact that he accepts that he used the words, why would that be any different to the Suarez case.

As already stated, criminal proceedings requires a greater degree of proof - civil (and the FA) do not

I'm sure the FA would be happy with the pre-admission in court of having used language that constitutes a racial slur as evidence

Can he not be handed a ban anyway wothout having attended for using the language and therefore bringing the game into disrepute? (as should Ferdinand)

Can he also not be made to pay the costs of the FA in setting up the Tribunal for him and the cancellation thereof?

Why now, though, the day before his hearing? Surely if his position was untenable it was untenable as soon as these charges were brought against him? Why now and not them or last week, or 2 weeks ago or whenever?

Terry, who promised in May to "never turn his back on England", is using his resignation from the captaincy to divert attention from the real issue...

He's dissed the FA, dissed the tribunal, dissed his colleagues

But does he care?

David Luiz gets just a yellow card for attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to another player.
John Terry costs himself (and us with the court case)millions of pounds for saying a few nasty words during a football match.
In my eyes there is some imbalance there.

According to Paul McCarthy on SSN this morning his legal team have been trying to get the charge thrown out before the hearing due to some fine print regulation in the FA rules that they shouldn't take further action over a legal courts decision.

Sounds like he was leaving it to the last minute to see if they could get it thrown out.

i thought it was the case that if Terry had been cleared in a court of law, the FA could not press charges UNLESS there was extra evidence?

Lescott was just as good IMO, although he didn't have to throw himself into last gasp blocks like Terry did. I think he's looked ok for City so far too. Not outstanding, but solid enough.

I'm guessing if Terry gets a ban then Cahill will get a more settled run in the Chelsea side as well. That should help him find his feet.

Terry has a good idea of what he's got coming (long overdue in my book) and this is just him trying to make it look like he's hard done by as opposed to his behaviour catching up with him.

He wasn't found 'guilty' - the lack of evidence cleared his name.
He never denied he used the word black ******* - but his defence was he was merely repeating what he believed Anton Ferdinand accused him of saying.
The FA think they can punish a player on 'probability'. If the FA are going to punish John Terry, then Anton Ferdinand needs to be punished for bringing the game in to disrepute too due to his comments about Terry's private life.

IMO - it's all handbags, as often the case with football - The FA should let this case drop.
