See i still think it was very soft goal for him to concede as it was straight down the middle - could understand if it took a deflection but it didn't. I know the defenders should have thrown themselves in front of the shot but if McC was in the middle of his goal then he would have just to bend down and pick it up

Royal Lady I wonder if De Gea stomped off and spouted off about loyalty when he was dropped for today's United match?
It's rather telling that Feds has been silent for a week now. If he'd said from the beginning that he wanted to distance himself from his girlfriend and her sister's tweets or something, I'd have more respect for him. His silence on the subject now speaks volumes to me.

I think he saw it very late - it came through 3 pairs of legs. Not perfect, but certainly not a clanger - and his only blemish on an otherwise pretty-much faultless performance.

LoyalRoyalFan It's all very well saying 'he could have done this and this', but at a moment's notice you have to make a decision. It was late sighted, so no blame can be pinned on McCarthy.

He made the wrong decision which resulted in a goal
Same as Feds against Stoke and Chelsea

RoyalJames101 Still can't help but think McCarthy is a bit of a twat off the field though.
Much rather Andersen out of all our keepers.

SHORT AND CURLY Surprised no one has mentioned the McCarthy punch out. He should have caught what was a relatively catch for a keeper. Could have proved costly. If that was Feds he would have got slaughtered on here.
What with the goal he conceded, I personally am not convinced that McCarthy is the better of the pair.

Not at all - he was blocked from getting to the ball by two defenders, so the punch was all he had as an option. I call that damn good judgement.

Not sure how he made the wrong decision.
His positioning is spot on, he's seen it late and had little time to react and nearly saved it. The shot is actually in a difficult position because it is going under his body.
You cannot compare it to the Federici mistakes, because simply, they were terrible blunders.

Oxon_Royal I'm not really interested in this 'Deb8', but whoever started this thread must falsely believe he's 'cool' (I hate that word!) by using '8' instead of 'eat' or 'ate'.
M8, u cum across as a lazy twat lol who can't be bovered to type simple English...(or else you're incapable of doing so.............lol).
