Maguire Evans didn't go high and got the ball. Shelvey went over the top and got Evans.
I thought it was 50/50 red/yellow at the time and either decision I can live with. Perhaps i'd err slightly more toward the yellow but it looked worse full speed. Dive in like that and you can't afford to get there late.
The only issue I have with this is that we've seen quite a few examples of tackles that win the ball resulting in red cards because, apparently, the player isn't in control and so it's been deemed to be reckless and dangerous.
Both players in that tackle are lunging in in a way that we're told means they don't have control. Personally I don't think that's really the case but the one thing people rightly call for from referee's is some consistency in their decision making.
Personally I wouldn't do anything more than give a free kick for the one who mis-timed it slightly, and possibly a yellow, but by the recent interpretation of the laws both should've been shown a red.
