Matt de K Not sure if we've had one of these before or not, but seeing as we've had a couple of bad decisions against us, I thought it would be good to have a plus/minus points accumulator for the season, for bad decisions that have affected the outcome of the game.

We all hear - "Well, it evens itself out over the duration of the season"

Well so far:

Torres offside goal = -1
Ba's handball goal = -2

I know this is all "ifs" & "maybes" but never-the-less I'm looking forward to scrubbing these -3 points off real soon :|

Not in the PL, and not for us. The close calls always go for the established teams and the refs have a bias against the newly promoted teams when it come to close calls. Those calls always go in favor of the established PL team.

Not true. http://www.debatabledecisions.com/previous-seasons

QPR would have been relegated last season if all the calls were right. Norwich had the same "mistake difference" as Chelsea and came off better than Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton.

Not only in the UK , last night Barcelona were allowed a goal after as blatant handball as Ba´s, this levelled the score at 2-2 , then in the last minute Barca scored again, sure if the handball "goal "hadn´t been allowed they would n´t have scored another. It is a fact of life that refs favour the big clubs, although Mourinho is always moaning about refs they do Real Madrid plenty of favours over the season .

This is another reason why Blatter and his bufoons have to bring in technology over the whole pitch, allow a club to contest 3 ref´s decisions during the game. Technology works very well in tennis, cricket and rugby and hardly slows down the game. That argument is ridiculous as more time is lost with prima donnas feigning injury than would be lost in questioning decisions.
Football authorities should remember the year is 2012 not 1912.

Every decision that goes against us from here to eternity will be chalked up as partial payback for the ghost goal against Watford.

+1 we've still got a lot to pay back on that one.

There's plenty more that we've got away with. We just forget those more quickly. (e.g. Another ref could have carded Kebe for the sock episode)

Where in the rule book does it say you can't pull up your socks?

I have seen 'the sock episode' ad infinitum and have never seen anything untoward in it! It was a strange moment that had no significance except for the opposing players who, at the time, needed something to gee them up. They used him and the Press then thought they smelled a story - which was never there!

jesus talk about changing the subject.

Apparently the Newcastle fans are comforting themselves with this handball being the reward for a Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (?sp) handball given against them several years ago. Memories are longer than just one season either way.

I think you may have missed the tone of Arch's post. And as for Kebe getting a yellow card for adjusting his socks and being assaulted... what planet is it you're on? I presume it has hallucinagens in the atmosphere because that is absolute drivel.

Matt de K We need to bring honesty back into the game. In every MOTD there is always some sort of dishonesty somewhere along the line.

Yesterday Ba celebrated by telling the Newcastle fans that he just scored with his right hand. Ok, so he admitted it to his traveling fans, and in the interview afterwards. Should he've admitted that to the ref, after Maradona'ing into the net? A Newcastle fan would say "no" probably, using the old "it'll even itself out over the season"
.

lets not kid our selves if a Reading player handled the ball into the net he woudn't of said anything nor would any other player -

a) they don't even themselves out
b) sockgate???? lolwut
c) Had a chat with a neighbour on Saturday night who also raised the point of us having nothign to moan about ever after Little Stewie Atwell awarded the phantom goal, IIRC he evened that one out in the very same match so anyone who still goes on about that can frankly fvck right off and stick it up your arse while you're at it
d) LOLz @ anyone suggesting us being awarded penalties will make any difference to the score

What is so critical is the timing of these officiating mistakes, both in the match or in the season. It would be of little comfort to finally 'get your run of good luck' or decisions by being awarded 3 penalties and 2 offside goals in the last 3 games when you could already have been shafted.

Maybe we're still paying for Tommy Youlden's 'goal' against Rochdale?

Ian Royal Anyone see whether Newcastle actually were offside when McCarthy brought their player down in the box? Because I thought that was a stonewall penalty until I saw the flag.

it was offside, otherwise 'stonewall' as you say

Tbf we paid back all of that on the day with the some if the farcical decisions Atwell gave against us. It's as if he realised his mistake and gave everything in Watford's favour.

We must have some 'even itself out' credit left in the bank after Phil Dowd's play-off stinker. Let's hope some of that comes back our way against Swansea.
