Signs over the entry gates says "HOME SUPPORTERS ONLY". Why are they allowing that rule to be broken?

Exactly.

i have no problem with away fans in home ends times have changed since the 80`s anyone ever thought that the Newcastle fans in the home end live and work around the area and this is the only time they will get to see there team in a season

Exactly.

Is there a defining characteristic of these home supporters then.

Will put this here rather than starting new thread.

We have encouraged 2 new fans to join this season who have season tickets in the upper west. Husband and wife and in their 50's.

When Mcanuff hit the post this lady got rather excited and jumped up.

Bloke sat behind her grabbed hold of her shoulders and said in a firm voice "sit down woman, this is an all seater stadium".

She was very upset and when she left her seat at the end of the game let's just say this bloke was told in no uncertain terms he is not to touch or speak to her like that again. If he does, stewards I am sure will be busy!

LoyalRoyalFan Let me think..... Newcastle fan going mad when they score, stewards sit there doing nothing about the complaints.

I was sitting in the disabled section in the corner of the north and main stand when Newcastle scored there was a bloke behind me who got very excited and started chearing a steward did speak to himbut if it's the bloke I think you're talking about then technically speaking he wasn't exactly in the home end as when I turned around to look he appppeaed to be sitting in one of the seats in the hospitality boxes.

Was it Mike Ashley?

Not this match against Newcastle but the last time we played them in the Championship, I was sat in West Upper a few seats from the directors box and Mike Ashley was by far and away the worst person I have seen at a match for trying to incite trouble. He had 3-4 mates with him and all of them were goading the Reading Fans, luckily it was West Upper as any where else would have caused a lot of trouble. A steward was placed next to him for most of the game and he was warned several times but nothing actually done. On the day he was ( and probably still is) a complete @@@ker.

He's also dead wrong - there's an expectation, set in the Taylor Report, that people will rise to their feet during "moments of excitement". It's "persistent standing" that's against ground regulations - standing when it's exciting is perfectly permissible.

I couldn't go on Saturday and lent my ST to one of my best mates who is a big Newcastle fan. (he's not big in size you understand)

He was given clear instructions not to be an ar5e if they scored, but clap if he wanted to.

He said he had a great time among Reading fans who'd sussed him out but were happy to chat with him.

royalexile God forbid any of the Reading support sitting in the oppositions end. That has never happened before has it.

Crystal Palace 2 years ago, I sat in the home end near the dugouts with a Palace supporting friend of the family, it was the game we drew 3-3? I struggled to contain my emotion when I shouted for the penalty. But politely clapped when they scored.

I must have been sat very near you for that very same game. Was in the Palace end a few rows behind the dugout, in the directors bit as a guest of their chairman. Considering we had to hold back the emotion I'd have much rathered a 0-0 bore draw than a 3-3 thriller! Politely stood up and clapped when they went 1-0 up after 1 minute, but really struggled to control the emotions when McCarthy saved their penalty. Again, as I didn't take the piss most Palace fans seemed quite happy for us to sit with them - even engaging in chat about the two clubs during lulls in play, but I'd have certainly expected them to be well within their rights to be pissed off it I started cheering our goals etc.

I was at St Mary's in for our win in April sitting in the block 2 away from the Reading fans.

Now *that* was scary - some of the neaderthals in there seemed to be complete throwbacks to the 80s.

Example 1.
I sat in the home end near the dugouts

Example 2.
I must have been sat very near you for that very same game.

Quick lesson in English grammar. Example 1 is the correct use of the word 'sat'. Example 2 is not. You cannot have 'been sat'. the correct use is
"I must have been sitting ..."

Just saying ....

Your first "sentence" does not appear to contain a verb.

HTH.

Leeds away last season I was in a corporate box in the stand opposite the dugouts at Elland Road. NEARLY lost control when Church scored but still let out enough of a "YEEEEE" to get the attention of a few in front of me - who also felt me kicking the cover in front of me in jubilation

Ipswich away first game of the season a few years ago, was another time I was in the home end. Lorded it when Sidwell scored but when that diving pcunt Magilton got a 93rd minute penalty, I had a queue of people waiting to dish out barrel loads of verbals

We had freebie tickets in the home end for the game at Watford where we didn't score that goal that we scored. Trying not to stick out like a sore thumb during that shenanigans was pretty difficult I can tell you!
