Royalist Its still hardly bringing in others though is what i meant which is the whole purpose of moving to Mondays! Worth a go to see what would happen. Not enough non league sides take risks to see what would happen if x y or z happened. I know some people have even wondered out loud about moving saturday home games to friday nights whilst i don't think Windsor is the right club for that, Scotty the Stag is in bed by evening, i think some other local clubs should give it a go and if promoted correctly it could bring in fans who are busy watching league football on Saturday nights

Do the Rules of the Competition allow for Monday night midweek matches? In the FA Premiere League does a Monday fixture replaces a Saturday/Sunday fixture? The home team might agree to play Saturday and Monday on the basis of fitness and player availability but does the opposition team agree?

Why does that matter? I thought you said the two clubs weren't related in anyway?

It doesn't "matter" in the slightest smart arse, but it does offer a relevant stat in the context of the discussion.

Sorry, just didn't understand the relevance of comparing attendances for two clubs that aren't (apparently) really related.

Just in case you really aren't being deliberately obtuse and really are that slow (I doubt that is the case tbf) it's a case of Attendances at Monday Night Football at Stag Meadow - v- Attendances at Tuesday Night Football at Stag Meadow.

Surely the biggest factor in attendance is the team(s) playing though no?

Last time I went to Wednesday afternoon football at the Madejski there were a few hundred there. If Reading moved their first team games to the same time I reckon we'd see quite in increase in numbers...

this w/e's NL selection

Saturday 6th October

FA Cup Third Qualifying

15 Hastings United v Whitehawk
16 Histon v Corby Town
17 Cambridge City v Billericay Town
18 Margate v Slough Town - against my better judgement I may try and get here - though have been a few times decades ago - saw them beat Swansea 1-0 in an FA Cup tie - that year reached the 3rd Rnd proper and got beat 0-6 by Spuds - better than the previous season - the Ted McDougall 0-11 game!
Fully expecting the M25 to regally f£ck up my efforts though.

19 Dereham Town v Metropolitan Police
20 South Park v Brentwood Town
21 Chalfont St Peter v Bishop's Stortford
22 Cray Wanderers v Chelmsford City

36 Didcot Town v Maidenhead United
37 AFC Totton v Merthyr Town
38 Bath City v Gosport Borough
39 Sholing v Blackfield & Langley
40 Hayes & Yeading United v Salisbury City
... good luck to three (?) 'local' Step05 sides left in - Badshot Lea & South Park from the CCLP, Blackfield & L. from the WESSP. ... and of course to all the other clubs I normally feature - reckon 'Diddy' might have a sniff - watched the Magpies lose 2-4 v Hornchurch on Tuesady eve and they were concentrated dump for about an hour  - only started playing when 0-3 down. Brought ex-Reading academy lad Alex Wall on 2nd half very direct running powerful striker.

Another defeat for Windsor, 3-1 at a pretty poor Farnham.

More new players we've never seen or heard of before. Same thing every week. Christ knows how many players we've used during the 8 games since Woodham took over but it must be 25 to 30, more than half of whom are teenagers.

Maybe some of them aren't good enough, maybe some don't fancy it when they see what's involved but the manager needs to settle on a squad soon who don't have to introduce themselves before each game.

Always going to happen when the club made the decision part way into a season not at the end of the last one. Sensible decision shocking timing. I do wonder if Stott will give the club SOME funds if relegation is likely

Ex-pro Alan Paris (local guy) is now involved in the coaching set up which should add a bit of experience. (250 appearances for P'Boro, Leicester etc. in the 80's, 90s.)

AthleticoSpizz Diddy hometie v Arlesey next round

....here's the 'suvvern' bit then: Ties de w/e 20th Oct

16 South Park [CCLP] v Dereham / Met Police
17 Didcot Town v Arlesey Town
18 Forest Green Rovers v Dartford
19 Yate Town v Newport County
20 Slough Town v Bath City / Gosport B
21 Hastings U / Hitchin T v Blackfield & Langley [WESSP]
22 Bromley v Weston SM / Worcester
23 Chelmsford City v East Thurrock United
24 Hayes & Yeading Utd v Boreham Wood
25 AFC Totton v Cambridge C / Billericay
26 Welling / Thurrock v Chalfont StP / B Stortford
27 Braintree Town v Lowestoft Town
28 Dorchester Town v Bury Town
29 Cambridge United v Luton Town
30 Gloucester City v Chippenham Town
31 Histon / Corby Town v E'bourne Bor / Hendon
32 Woking v Ebbsfleet United

... two of 'our' three STEP05 'minnows' made it through - though admittedly neither are all that 'local'. South Park is a suburb of Reigate and Blackfield & Langley is down on the fringes of the New Forest past the old Esso Refineries.

... and should Dereham from the Eastern Counties League manage to overcome 'The Ol' Bill' in their replay this Wednesday - then there's a guaranteed STEP05 club in the First Round proper! :D

In the northern bit of the draw FCUM are at home to Hereford

... here this w/e's 'local' NL stuff - it is designated a Non-League Day (see other thread?) there's even a 'Ground Hop Day' up in the Conference, with three games spread out across the day:
(Macclesfield v Newport 12:30; Stockport v Kidderminster 15:30; Hyde v Tamworth 18:30)
- watch out for ST offers too, usually in the upper reaches of the pyramid - ie I'm sure Wealdstone (always) have a 1/2 price deal for other ST holders and there must be plenty more set up for the day itself?

Saturday 13 Oct 2012

FA Vase 1st Round

55 Colney Heath v Sporting Bengal United - looks as if this is our choice - only 'new' ground in reasonable range - just need to get round as far as jn22 of 'Orbital Car Park' - so here's hoping? :|

58 AFC Dunstable v Hatfield Town

Sun 14 Oct
56 London Lions v Codicote (2.00) @ Hemel Hempstead FC
59 Hadley v Berkhamsted (1.00)
65 Wokingham & Emmbrook v Marlow (3.00) - might take youngest along to this one - Sumas can raise their game if they have everyone available and their manager (Roger) is a bright lad so this could be a good tussle, as Marlow are firing at the top of the Hellenic.
67 Aylesbury United v Kidlington (3.00)
71 Oxford City Nomads v Windsor (2.00) - last years champs - OCN very hot/cold this season - probably cos their manager and most of ther 1st team decamped to Witney - Nomads beat Slimbridge midweek so suggests they must have improved slightly after a few dodgy results - certainly a good standard ground at Court Place Farm - now STEP02 grade.

Had a quick look on Truro forum. They all seem surprised that it came to this! Talk about blinkered. They were signing players from pro clubs when in southern league division 1!

In 33 odd years i think i have only been to 2 matches that have later been 'expunged' but they both involved Truro City which is a bit odd. Maidenhead this year and Windsor 2 years back.

Still find it amazing that fans of clubs like Truro seem to feel hard done by when the shit inevitably hits the fan. Id actually feel quite ashamed if the club I followed doped their way to 5 promotions. The one and only reason they are not still playing in the Western Peninsula League is because of Kevin Heany and his dubious funding of the club. Not the efforts of their fans of the grossly overpaid players, competing against players on a mere fraction of their wage.

Its good to see the Conference rightly taking a hard line against such clubs, but its high time the leagues amended their membership rules to prevent clubs being able to take such a reckless punt and enjoying the ride.
