Actually think Hooper would be a good addition for us certainly better than the majority of our strikers via Poggy Pog.

Seen Jermaine Pennant has been told he is free to go on loan today (would only be abroad or to npc) but would be until January. Bit of a bad boy reputation in the past but can't deny he would add quality to our team might be worth an approach in Jan if he is not in Pulis's plans anymore.

I reckon we could do a lot worse than get Sidwell back. Seems to be performing pretty well for Fulham at present.

With the new head scout it's difficult to say who we will get, but I suspect we'll be in competition with Fulham for a few unknowns...

Think Sidwell and Guthrie would work quite nicely together. Of course there's no chance he'd join us from Fulham this season.

referring to the earlier comments about Gary Hooper, see a lot of him up here in Scotland, very highly rated in the SPL, natural goalscorer would be a great addition but up here the talk is of Liverpool being interested.

-Priority: Arshavin to play in the hole behind Pog, surely wouldn't cost too much and stick him on a similar deal to Pavel.
-Not sure we need another striker, maybe loan out Church and bring in someone like Wilfried Zaha, Simeone Jackson.
-Center Midfield, if we insist on playing 442, Jacob Butterfield, or Steve Sidwell to play alongside Leigertwood. Mikele cant be replaced unless we bring in another hardman, Lee Cattermole anyone?

Or just give the young lads a chance, In McDermott I trust

If you would like a gaping hole infront of our vulnerable back four, then sure, it's a great idea.

Yeah because they've been super successful at keeping hold of players lately...

I assume you're referring to Pog, given Dempsey & Dembele went UP the food chain, and we are most definitely DOWN the food chain from Fulham right now. And I'd answer that by saying that there's a world of difference between competing for a free agent's signing, to buying a contracted first teamer.

Especially when the free agent was our marquee signing. And one the the manager has gone on record saying he thought was out of our reach until our owner (who's the same nationality as the player) got involved and threw his money and influence around.

Given that we passed up the chance to sign him after giving him a trial against Didcot, I doubt he would be interested in coming here.

TheSiege

TheSiege Arsenal are now looking at Zaha. They are known for buying cheap and selling expensive. We had the chance to do the same but, we lacked the ambition to get him, or Rhodes, or Whittingham (change names if you have other favourites!). Three top class players, taking the positions of three of our players who do not play, might have given us a different start to the season!

If only we had spent money we don't have on players we don't need.....

If only we had spent money we did have to ensure that we were a Prem team! If you don't understand football, why embarrass yourself? D*ckh*ad!

I understand football like I understand Christmas. You take pleasure in the presents you receive and the fun you can have. You don't get through it wailing incoherently, wetting your pants, and calling people dickheads because mummy didn't buy you a great big train set.

I really can't be arsed but just for the hell of it...
Zaha, Rhodes and Whittingham would be:
£6m + £8m + £3m on fees
£2m + £3m +£1.5m per year on wages
An extra £500,000 per year on every new contract an existing player signs over the next three years as the wage structure would have been broken
How do you know that we can afford this gamble?

See Zamora's comments about Martin Jol for details. They've lost a lot of their old first team to us, QPR and Tottenham, plus their Head of Scouting to us. Either people are leaving because they don't like Jol's style or he's just trying to bring in a squad of his own people, doesn't really matter which but wouldn't be surprised if Sidwell and a few others find themselves replaced over the next two transfer windows.

If you put money into a premiership club, you don't get it back. It just disappears. This happens with most clubs, whether they are at the top like Man City, famous failures like Leeds or Portsmouth, or clubs who we might think are at our level like Stoke or Bolton.

What you are asking is for somebody you don't know to give the club millions of pounds becuase you think it will guarantee Premiership survival.

I'm happier for this not to happen. Gamble on surviving this season: we might go up or we might get relegated, but it will be exciting. Even if we go down, next year we can reinforce the squad even more. If we are a yoyo club for a while that's fine, but turning ourselves into Man City on the brandishing of a chequebook just doesn't appeal to me.

Got a feeling the window will come around, we wont do anything for 3 weeks, loose a few more games then sign a player from brentford/ireland for a unknown fee. A massive rumour will emerge that we are looking at "big" player on the last day of the window and it will turn out to be heskey.

Let's be realistic - McD is never, ever going to go into a window and just splash money everywhere panicking. Neither will we spend anywhere near £10M on player(s). So either if we're in the sh*t I don't think we should expect much.

Personally, I think we need to prioritise in (1) Definitely a new holding midfielder, Legs just can't cut it at this level. We need someone we've experience and clear quality to boss the midfield. (2) Possibly a new CB/LB should we still be leaking tons of goals. (3) And, if we're struggling for goals, a new striker, but I doubt McD will feel the need to strengthen here.

With Rio Ferdinand's decision to refuse to wear the Kick It Out T-shirt and follow in the foot steps of Jason Roberts could we sign Rio if he was to be offloaded on the cheap as fergie has made it clear he is angry with Rio? Fergie has a past history of getting rid of players who dont listen to him so could Rio be next?
WILD speculation i know!
