I think the first official video the club produced was the Royal Gems one from circa 1984 - I wrote to Meridan last year to see if they had any earlier archived Reading stuff, as in the Southern TV days we were usually on a couple of times a season on Sunday afternoon highlights show even when in div 4 - they never came back to me but the stuff must be out there somewhere; I've occasionally seen the goals from the Arsenal cup game from 1972, and the Watney Cup game v Man U from 1970 with Best and co.

The Southern TV / Old Footage thing has been round the block a few times. A few people out there claim to have some of the Southern stuff (Crewe, Northampton were a couple from memory) but no-one has ever come through with an offer to give/trade for some of my stuff.

I personally have a source for the Reading v Arsenal footage from 1972 - highlights as broadcast on ITV on Sunday 6th Feb 1972- however the source is in the ITV network itself and it comes at a cost : (1) 200 quid for the rights and (2) cannot be used for commercial use OR uploading to any internet source e.g. youtube. Even if I shared the cost of the footage with 20 other people it would have been my personal responsibility to ensure it remained private to us. There's no chance of policing that.

In addition to the 26+ seasons, I have most live games from 1987 onwards and also extended highlights - Arsenal FA Cup, Chelsea League Cup etc. I'd trade something for the Southern stuff or I think someone mentioned they had one of the full games from 1985-86 season (the club video, not TV). Else I'm not keen as such on giving away what I have because at the moment it's the only lever I have to persuade people who are hoarding the other stuff to part with it!

Cheers for that, hadn't seen the Vale one for 10+ years now.

How satisfying is it to see the goals scored at our fans end, quality!

Pretty sure Port Vale purchased that stand cover for the away end from Chester City when they moved from Sealand Road.

Brilliant. We went to the Vale game in the back of a transit and didn't get there til half time, only to see Reading score 4 in the second half. Then after game I had the back of the van open, tooled up, inviting the Vale supporters to have a go...... but got pulled back in as the other lads didn't quite have the appetite for it that I did

fozzy ages and ages and ages ago some of you guys asked if I'd upload the Wolves/Archie/McGhee footage from 1996-97 from my extensive collection. Well, finally.........

I need to shake you by the hand and buy you 16 beers. OUTSTANDING work. What a game, what an atmosphere. Interestingly (no really) the 1st goal is exactly how I remember it, but the 2nd is not. I had it etched that is was a carbon copy of the 1st

handbags_harris IT was me, and it can't be argued that Quinn's Bristol Rovers goal was much, much more difficult to execute. That, allied to the distance out, the thinking time involved, the difficulty of executing the shot, it all points to the Rovers goal being a much better, more difficult and therefore spectacular strike.

Well, given the international break it has been a short while since I have had chance to argue with HH so here goes 8)

Wolves goal for me. The Rovers goal is a quite phenomenally executed strike, but the Wolves goal shades it for the piece of ball juggling beforehand and it gets bonus points for the significance of the match itself (Division 1 status-saving, against McGhee). The fact that it happened 'under the lights' adds to the pure theatre.

Genuine thanks to Fozzy for going to the effort of putting that up. I hadn't seen the goal itself since attending the game 16 and a half years ago.

Additional and almost entirely off-topic: the RFC kit as shown in that Wolves 3-0 clip (albeit it was cheap polyester Pelada crap in terms of material it was made from) is surely our best ever. Minimalist, simplistic approach to the hoops with the compromise of the 'patch' for the numbers failing to ruin the iconic effect. Note also white shorts, which should always be a RFC home strip pre-requisite!

Nottingham Forest fan here in peace!

I collect football DVDs and I'm looking for any live matches or highlights of Reading playing Forest.

In particular I'm after copies of the two games during the 1997/98 season - the 3-3 thriller at Elm Park and Forest's 1-0 win in the return fixture - which were both shown live on Sky Sports.

I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has these games recorded somewhere? If so I'll be happy to trade stuff from my collection or pay the costs of discs and postage, whatever's best.

ALOL, never noticed that before which is surprising as I attended the match in question and have - in a non-sexual way - worn the Year Of The Royals video tape out watching it over and over.
