The Liverpool Echo says that two rows of houses would be affected. One a row of derelict properties behind the main stand - the club actually owns the majority of these already, the council the rest. The other rental properties the local housing association will receive a premium for and will be turned into a hotel. £6m is to be invested in the Anfield area for regeneration of other council owned properties not earmarked for demolition. Try again.

And the majority of which (on my last visit in 2008) were boarded up anyway.

That's right. Many were boarded up when I visited in about 2004.

They need to do something. Sounds like a positive step forward for the club. Will they be keeping the stands in place and just adding to them or completely starting from scratch? Anyone know?

The plan is to extend the existing stadium, so I'd expect Liverpool to be playing with three stands for a couple of seasons - it will be similar to when the Kop was knocked down and rebuilt around '94 or so.

Oh right, thanks.

There's talk of Liverpool being interested in Ba, in the January transfer window. Could be a good signing for them, if it comes off.

A hotel in Anfield! Blimey, that is an ambitious project. Renting rooms by the hour could be the way forward there.

No less attractive than booking a hotel room on a Reading trading estate, tbf.

Looking forward to the relegation scrap between Reading and Liverpool this weekend.

Would be good to see Reading win. Cmonurz is going to be as confused as Raheem Sterlings sexuality this week.
