sandman Would that be the same Nigel Howe who once said Reading "could be as big as Arsenal"?

Wasn't that actually Hammond?

I can confirm RFC are in the market for a Stadium naming rights deal, so that's one big change on the horizon.

And yet weren't we told that it would always be the Madejski stadium in honour of Sir John? Or did I dream that? In any case, I shall ALWAYS refer to it as the Mad Stad. So stick that "the man".

No, it was more along the lines of it may happen in the future for commercial reasons. This was when Chris was asked at the conference and whilst he didn't say yes he did not rule it out.

If there's a good deal on the table then can see it happening. I could also see west standing being named The Sir John Madejski Stand. The Waitrose deal is up this year and they could renew but if we do stay up it'll cost them more than before and I'd think we'd see other sponsorship offers come in.

There's various large companies based in Reading and the surrounding areas which Anton has said himself so commercially he's thinking of additional revenue streams.

Chris Samuelson wouldn't rule it out and said stadium sponsorship was a possibility in the future.

Does anyone know where we currently stand on our EPPP status and the likelihood of us getting category one?

I understood the club weren't actually expecting category one status until next year as there was just that little bit too much work to do to the training ground in the summer. However, no news is good news...

Hmmmm, if that's the case they've changed the selection criteria, because I understood the initial assessment was for a 3-year term, with no change of academy status in that period. Certainly the financial package from the PL is worked out on a 3-year only basis.

Well they are in the market, but would only actually happen if they got the right deal. So possibility is a fair description.

Because a new training ground, level 1 academy status and a potential stadium expansion comes real cheap.

sandman Because a new training ground,

Where? Is this actually confirmed yet?

sandman level 1 academy status

Not achieved yet.

sandman and a potential stadium expansion comes real cheap.

"potential" being the operative word.

Don't misunderstand me - I want these things to happen as much as anyone, but there's such a history across football of supporters being made promises which aren't kept that I won't believe anything until I actually see tangible proof - rather than just promises.

^^ I agree with Alexander. They have talked the talk, but until they can walk the walk, I'll have my reservations.

Ideal jesus f'ing christ, people on here were so quick to slate JM, almost two years of "where's the money gone" and all that rubbish.
Well, what about TSI, WHERE'S THE oxf*rd MONEY PCUNTS?`???!?!?!?!???

Where's it gone? Where's what gone?

No-one said there was x-amount for buying new players, and yet we managed to bring in some real quality this summer with far more than we would have been able to have done with the budgets John Madejski could provide. The club is actively looking at land for a new "world class" training ground, and have been spending a lot of money in improving our current facilities in order to be awarded Category 1 status this year - although that is not expected yet. That alone will cost the club over £2m a year to run, let alone the money needed to get us up to that standard first.

If you expected the club to suddenly spend £20m in transfers then you clearly didn't listen to a word Anton said since taking over. He said things wont change, we will still remain prudent, but with the ability to spend more money than we were able to in the past. That is exactly what we have done on the pitch this summer, and also off it, and TSI haven't even has time to get comfy and put their feet up yet.

Having been a long time viewer of this forum, I find it interesting that your stance on TSI has changed since they came in. Initially you didn't want to see them spend vast sums of money, and yet here you are wanting exactly that.

Don't flip this around you fool.
You lot all said "this was the gravy train" and we were set, in the money. Don't try to shift that onto us.
You all said there'd be spending. We were all fools to be the least bit sceptical.

Where's the fcuking money gone then?

Do you have a detailed financial schedule from the club regarding the activities of the club over the last 6 months Ideal?

Of the "quality we have bought in this summer" which players are playing regularly in the first team?

Pog - yep

Who are the other quality players then? Because I don't see them holding a regular place in the first team. :|
