Imagine it'll be reserves v reserves. 3-1 Arsenal.

Think it will be a reasonably strong Reading team that crashes our 0-2 to a side largely comprising Arsenal's reserves.

Think if we are going to experiment with new systems tonight then we will be looking at 3-0 Arsenal we just can't seem to ever compete with them regardless of the side they put out.

Head says 3-1 Arsenal, heart says 2-1 Reading. They will probably both be wrong.

Arsenal squad:

6 Laurent Koscielny
12 Olivier Giroud
14 Theo Walcott
18 Sebastien Squillaci
20 Johan Djourou
22 Francis Coquelin
23 Andrey Arshavin
25 Carl Jenkinson
26 Emmanuel Frimpong
29 Marouane Chamakh
36 Damian Martinez (GK)
40 Hector Bellerin
46 Thomas Eisfeld
47 Serge Gnabry
53 Jernade Meade
54 Ignasi Miquel
60 James Shea (GK)
64 Nico Yennaris

Not sure who'd line up from that, but Frimpong, Walcott, Giroud and Arshavin are all a bit of a scare.

Harte will have Walcott in his pocket all night, probably his back pocket and Tabb will have Arshavin chasing shadows. Can't see anything to worry about.

Anyone having a punt tonight?

Racing Post suggests neither time likely to keep a clean sheet.

having seen this squad, I'm much more confident! With the exception of Walcott, I don't think there's anyone here who is definitely better than anything we have at Reading. We'll make changes but it won't be the kids - just the other senior players who haven't played recently and are of the same level a the team who played on Saturday. This one is there for the taking!

TBF Arsenal have got a pretty decent squad of reserves and kids and they always go a good few rounds in the League Cup - with a massive game against QPR coming up at the weekend I'ed be very surprised to see Mcdermott putting out a strong team tonight - personally I think he should start with our strongest side as any kind of win tonight will be a big boost to team moral and confidence.
